Came home last and the tv channels was all screwed up, so reset the t.v program search while holding a beer (easy) . Now have a shed-load more english channels (this list may be a bit short as the scanner picked up 311 channels including a load of unscrambled stuff such as al jazeera (EEK) , egyptian channels, kuwait, russian and god knows what else), to list them all is impossible but found a few english ones on a 1st pass anyway. Will do a slow and professional scan tonight, looks like a load more (ok it aint the beeb proper or ITV but its pretty cheap)

BBC Prime
SKY news
Boomerang (kids cartoons such as wacky races, scooby doo (hope they show "catch the pigeon")
Toon disney (pretty cac)
Turner classic movices (got told it was cac, but having enjoyed the dirty dozen aint so bad)
AXN
Sailing channel
Euronews
National Geographic
CNN (of course)
CNBC (mmm)
NASN (american sports)
VH1 (all music with what looks like hourly themes)
KERRANG (pretty cool)
ESPN classic (or something like that)
MTV (of course) and a few other MTV Clones

And a strange one (forgotten the channel name), english speaking channel for the chinese international community.

Don't you have to subscribe to get those Channels ???
Rustic_Cockney
Ah yes silly me.

We pay 7 EUR per month for what is called the "Englischsprache" package, but up til now you only got 4 channels. (MTV, PRIME, Euronews and some other not worth watching piece of cac).

I just gave 'em a call on the dog and bone, and they said that the english package has been expanded free of charge, and that there should be at least 16 channels. I didn't bother asking what they were, it is more fun trying to find them.

All the others such as al jazeera and the chinese english speaking channbel are picked because we have the top box/smartcard and these channels are piped through that, as long as they remain unscrambled then we will get them free (Theres even a 24 hour Bollywood channel, doing me head in that stuff does)

Yep, it also depends in which area of Germany you're situated, as the cable company changes name but offers pretty much the same channels above mentioned.

There were posts about this subject a few weeks ago, this was mine:

As we can not get a dish in our building because our flat has no balcony, I had to make do with cable.
So if it is of any help to you, with cable you can get BBC PRIME where they show up to date 'Eastenders' and 1-year behind BBC programs. You can check here:

I am all for Cheap.

But in your case I didnt make money, nor will I.

I offer an installation service in and around munich, and a supply service, europe wide.
There are many many folk out there who wouldnt know an LNB from an SDH. Many of my customers cannot be arsed to get their hands Dirty by doing it them self.. so they call me!
The Tevion receiver from aldi is quite alright, however it is not very user friendly and has a NOW and NEXT EPG, not a full 7 day one!

You want to see a DIY install??

Hey, it's not my digibox. It belongs to my folks. It's their card too. honest

I have a multifeed bin lid on the roof, because when I bought the house, I had to get german telly for the bitch.
She's gone now, so I don't really need the multifeed bit of the dish. there are no recievers connected up to the 19° LNB. The house Ariel is not connected up. I can only phisically get UK TV.

When the GEZstapo came round, I offered them a cup of coffee and gave them the remote for them to try and pick up german telly. He didn't want to try. He wouldn't have been able to get anything anyway...

Hey Rustic Cockney or anyone with the 'English package' from Kabel Deutschland or Kabel BW... Can you receive BBC Prime and Sky news still?
I heard that BBC Prime was going to reposition the channel or something and since last night I only receive the music and Sport channels from the English package but no BBC Prime, Sky News, Boomerang, National Geographic, etc.
Anybody has the same problem? mellow.gif

I have the English package from iesy/tividi (the Hessen equivalent of Kabel BW), and have no problems.
I did get a letter from them last week that I must reset my box in the next days, but due to the fact that they will be offering a new service called 'arena' which will show Bundesliga games.
Diane
Cheers! All back to normal now they were just resetting something, I did miss 1 episode of Eastenders but I can catch up on Sunday so no harm done! tongue.gif

I can't get German television at all, It is cabled into the house and there is a blanking plate over the connection. I only receive UK telly via Sky on a satellite but I was told by GEZ that I still have to pay it because I have a TV and a computer and that I could receive it if I wanted.

So I have been paying for the last 5 years.

I figured it was like the Beeb licence If you have a TV then you have to pay for it. sad.gif
