3 weeks to go!! biggrin.gif and I've been hoping one of the wee flyers would arrive about a Altkleidung collection round the houses, but no joy as yet.
I have a few black bags of old but good kid's and adult's clothes to give to charity. Does anyone know of an organisation I can call so I can get rid of them? I looked at the Red Cross website but no info about clothing collections.
Oh for the Oxfam shop!!

do the red cross not have altkleidung "skips" by the bottle-banks around your way? they do around here at any rate.
Nicole
Don't they have those Red Cross bins that you can put them in. They are usually near supermarkets. You pull down the handle and put the bags of clothes in them, close it and they drop to the bottom. (ooh we posted the same thing at the same time!)

Hi Sandra, have you tried your local HIVE ??
willy
Why not contact the Red Cross directly? I'm sure they can point you in the right direction -or- even pick up the clothing.

Toytown had an excellent and extensive post on it

Donating Old Clothes

We pass all our old stuff (and as wifey has lost almost 60 kilos) alot of not so old stuff to our aunt who passes it on to people in Eastern Europe.

Generally speaking best place is Red Cross worse is the street colectors.

Try your local church,(Pfarramt or Pfarrheim)
Ours take old clothes, shoes, curtains etc

There are lots of organisations like the Caritas, churches or the social amt who distribute clothes, furniture and more or less everything that low income families, single mothers etc could use.

The red cross flogs most of what they get and makes a profit. The clothes usually end up on an african market and help to ruin the local clothes industries.
