Mornin'

Can anyone help us with the following, as Frau Hamcunian and I are investigating getting a FTA box so that we can watch the Beeb and ITV.
Due to numerous visits back to England, she has become addicted to Eastenders, so we need to get English telly sharpish before she starts getting withdrawal symptoms and murders me.

1) If I've understood correctly, an 80cm dish should be suitable for Hamburg, right?
2) Any recommendations for a receiver/other required hardware, or are they all much of a muchness?
3) Any recommendations for a reliable and reasonably priced installer in Hamburg.
4) We'd get Beebs 1, 2, ITV, Channel 5, correct? Would we get channel 4 on fta?
Any other noteworthy channels on FTA?

As you may have gathered from the title, I am a satellite novice, so any advice would be much appreciated.

Cheers und Schönen Tag noch.

It depends on what exactly you mean by FTA.

If you were to go to your nearest Media Markt and buy a Digital reciever, then you will only get
BBC 1,2,3,4
ITV 1,2,3,4
and a few other rubbish programmes.

If you have rellies in the UK, then you can get yourself a second hand $KY digibox, get a FTA Card from SKY ( 20 quid ) and then you will be able to get Channel 4 and Channel 5.

And a 80cm dish is plenty enough (Had $ky here down south working with a minidish !! )

But PM SATMAN, he's you Man for that stuff here on the board... laugh.gif

FFS..

The Astra2d issue is not a north south issue... its east/west issue.
Munich 90cm.. Baden baden.. 43cm.

Hamburg is a Fringe area.. 60cm is sufficient..

You tell folk to contact me when you have already told them what to do..

I sometimes wonder!

I had the same problem when I moved to Berlin, I'm a die-hard Easties fan and I was in actual agony as days passed by and I didn't get my daily 'Walford-fix' so I nagged my husband to do something about it.

As we can not get a dish in our building 'cause our flat has no balcony, I had to make do with cable.
So if it is of any help to you, with cable you can get BBC PRIME where they show up to date 'Eastenders' and 1-year behind BBC programs. You can check here:

KABEL DEUTSCHLAND ENGLISH PACKAGE

Or she can always watch the daily updates in their official website to stay up to speed in the meantime, here:

EASTENDERS

Good Luck! smile.gif
