The Hockenheim company has amassed debts of 29m euros ($35m) which endanger the race from 2007 onwards.

Looks like the German F1 Grand prix will be either at Hockenheim OR the Nurburgring and not both in future... Mind you no present fanatical German F1 fan will bother going so Germany won't need to host 2 F1 GP's when Schumacher no longer races in that series come 2007 dry.gif

yep, I don't think Heidfeld and Schumi 2 have the support of the fans compared to the Regenmeister somehow!
have only been to the Nürburgring so don't know what the Hockenheim experience is, but I am planning to go to Hockenheim for the German GP this season.

Hockenheim is good fun, went for 3 years in a row. Good 'ol Eddie Irvine won the first race... he was a character tongue.gif Schumi only raced in one of the races I went to, although it was a specutacular start, can't remember who but he drove over the back of them from the starting grid and the race had to be restarted. The crowd just love him, if he wasn't there I don't think there would be the interest. One of races he was out with a broken leg and they showed an interview with him on the big screen. The silence in the crowd as they listened to it was eerie.
But I think the whole series has gotten very boring, main reason I stopped going. Not worth the admission price. The formula 3000 was always a better race when I was there, very competive with some excellent over taking moves.

Couldn't agree more... I lost interest in F1 about 3 or 4 years ago, it's a complete non-event and I don't think the series will last much longer in the current format anyhow...

was in Hockenheim back in 98 or so .. everytime that Schumi came into the "stadium" complex, the Germans all started letting of rockets. They announced before the race and it was in the program that even the drivers had asked them not to, as they thought the engine had exploded, but it didn't seem to make any difference.

Cars are so bloody fast these days (and you don't see that on telly!!!) - the straights aren't long enough to allow any overtaking. And as they can now stop on a sixpence, so outbraking is barely possible.

Now the only "excitement" is in the pit lane, where there is always the chance of a fire, someone getting run over, or tidy girls in tight shorts - other than that, sadly no more than an excuse for getting an hours and an half kip on a Sunday afternoon.

EDIT: aagh it was 97!!!
