Would really love to video record some of the late night TV programmes, but cannot figure out how to do the setting up. Have been able to get a Programme on the TV " AV " screen, and can change this picture with the remote control of the Sat digi box, but it will not Record when I use the Play/Record button. The tape does move forward , as though recording, but when I rewind and press Play there is only blank tape output. Any suggestions would be really appreciated. ( Non-technical terms please. LOL. )

What's up Raffles? Can't stay awake until the pornos have started?
You have to set your video to record from it's AV input, it will then record what is playing on the TV. That is providing your TV has a video output (usually on SCART 1, but often SCART n>1 are only input). If your TV has video out on RCA connectors, then you can connect those to your video's input connectors.
One thing to watch out for if you have a SCART connection: Not all SCART cables sold in the shops are fully wired to work in both directions.
For exact details, though, you should consult the respective manuals for both TV and video, to ensure they are capable (usually are these days) and how they have to be connected and set-up.

You are correct Mack, but it didn't work at that time, so I resolved to just watch whatever was available...but there are so many good programmes that come on late in the evening that I thought I would give it another shot, but with other imput from the Board.
You need two 21-pin SCART leads.
Connect the first SCART lead from the back of your Digibox (marked Video) to your Video Recorder (marked Input).
Connect the second SCART lead from the back of the Video (marked TV) to your TV (prob marked SCART1).
Switch on all 3 pieces (Digibox, Video, TV). If you're lucky you'll get a picture straight away. If not, look at your Video Recorders remote control. You'll probably see a button marked 'AV'. Press until you see a picture on your TV. You may also need to do the same thing with your TV and the AV button. If you're very unlucky you may need to try all combinations of AV channels on your video and tv.
When you see a pic on your TV you know you're able to make a recording for sure.
Let us know your progress.
You could always get yourself a Sky+ box. Works like a dream. Or do actually want to record German TV?

Or do actually want to record German TV? LOL... not really Luke. Would like to have the Sky packages, but have no relatives or friends in UK who would allow their address to be used. The local Sky package" suppliers " want an arm and a leg to provide you with a UK address. Anyway, there are not enough hours in the day to watch everything .. even for an OAP like me.

Hi BB ... I am trying to record from the AV channel. I was told to use this, and select the channel I wish to record with the digi-box controller. Giving it a try this afternoon. Will report back later.

Works with me too raffles.Digibox via scart to Videorecorder. Select AV on your Video, and you record what you see. ( even the search and scan banner...

)
Also connect your Digibox via scart to the TV.

Just had a look at the back of all of my equipment, Digi-box, tele, and vdeo recorder, and all of the items only have 20 pin female housings. My 3 scart leads are all 20 pin too. Does this mean I cannot record anything.?

SCART is a standard form. I think you will find that even yours is a 21 pin plug. you have to count the metal box-oblong-cut off corner-thingy as a pin too ...

Maybe your Video has more than 1 SCART plug. make sure that you are recording from the right one.
My DVD Recorder has got 2 SCART and I have connected my digibox to AV2.
Some (older - ancient ) Videos only have SCART Out and not IN/OUT.

No Adi, I'm beginning to think that this Video player has a fault. It is a second-hand gift from my neighbour. It does play Videos perfectly, but perhaps it just doesn't record.

Well, I took the plunge and bought a brand new video recorder, (
FUNAI ) and, whilst I was feeling so light-headed, a brand new television set. (
SEG. )
It initially recorded great, until I decided to be a clever bugger and tune in the TV channels. Wish I hadn't even thought about it.!!! Now I cannot record anything at all, although it does play pre-recorded tapes perfectly.
Trying to playback recorded items produces only a blue screen, or a load of static.
I daren't take it back and say it doesn't work because they will surely know I've been fiddling with the channel tuning.
What a mess... Woe is me. Never mind, I can at least play videos, but would have loved to be able to record the best satallite programmes, which always seem to be aired around 11pm or later.
Sadly... Raffles.

what do you mean tune in the TV Channels? on the video or on the TV? You have to tune in the Video recorder to tape anything. How exactly is it set up?what cables where. It looks like you have changed the input into the video recorder.

Bbulldog ... Yeah, I think you are right Mate. No buttons on the video recorder remote to do a channel search, only a tape position quick search, to find Stop / Start of recorded items...Problem is on the TV.
Sky remote finds and plays all satellite channels OK, but video recorder will not record them. Scart connections between the digi /recorder /TV are as per the book.

Just imagine that all the channels are inside the Sky box... but only one can get out at a time...
On the vcr, there is either a button that says AV,AU, AUX or input select ..
that is your "SKY" channel. What ever is displayed on your sky box, is the channel you record.

Hi Satman, appreciate your input. Well, I always put the TV on AV before I attempt to record. Get a good picture, but it still doesn't record. Just plays a blue screen back on replaying. Think BB is right. I must havesomehow affected the channel selection when I stupidly tried to scan for channels for storing. Only ever found one channel, and that was a " snowy " German one. Think I have made a complete hash of this.

Right... THE Simple-ish explaination..
A scart connector...
This is the big black cable that looks like
This. This cable is BI- Directional.. Takes the RAW sound and Picture from the Sky box to the TV...
The Other scart takes the raw Sound and picture to the VCR..
By selecting AV, aux ext1 input.. etc on the TV, you see a picture coming from the sky box...! Yes?
By selecting AV, Au Aux etx etc on the VCR, you should be able to record what is on the Sky box...
You should have one scart cable from Digibox to TV ( Marked TV SCART) and also one scart from Digibox to VCR (Market VCR SCART)
If this still dosent help, call me!

I agree with Satman. TV must be set to AV so that you can see $KY.
But your Video must also be set to AV to record it...

I still havent received your e-mail.
Having had a breif look at a Handbook (in german) it seems that you have to do an Auto tune first! when the unit dosent find any channels then its happy to work as normal!
I, along with many others have said the same thing... but to no avail.
May just be easier to get a local TV chappie to come and show you!... If you need help in communicating with the chap, then you can contact me direct.!
