Hi mrstuttgart!

Don't know about directly in Stuttgart, but out where I am in Weinstadt (about 15 mins from town on the B29) there are - as the name implies biggrin.gif - loads of vineyards and wineries, most of whom offer wine tasting.
One of the biggest in the area is the Remstalkellerei who do a nice range of local wines with something for everyone.

Have fun!

thankyou very much for that!

do you think they will still be operating at this time of year?

do you have any idea of the format i.e how exactly they run it? is it a tour or simply sit you in a barn with various types of wine?!!!

thanks
charlie

the normal wine tasting is not as expensive but it's only with "vesper" no 6 course meal or anything, a tour round the wine cellar and loads of information and wines to taste. they will do an individual tasting for a min. of 15 people (also in english if desired) best is to write em an e-mail or phone them.
Für Ihre Fragen zu Weinproben und Kellerführungen erreichen Sie uns telefonisch unter (0 71 51) 69 08 13, per Mail an pavillon@remstalkellerei.de

most wine dealers offer wine tastings throughout the year and also the volkshochschule "vhs" offer a variety of wine courses which is a good way of beeing able to afford drinking expensive wine (some bottles would set you back way over a hundred euro)

Oooh, maybe we could russle up 15 English-speaking wine-drinkers in Stuttgart and do a wine-tasting... what do you think guys?!

I'd come and then I'd be able to drive you all home as I am not a fan of German wine, even the supposed dry ones are too sweet.

There's a Sektkellerei here in Althengstett/Calw that does tastings too, very popular with busloads of old ladies in the summer on daytrips!! Die Schlossbergkellerei

Oh God I´d definitely be up for wine tasting - absolutely love the stuff!

We did a wine tasting trip last year - can´t remember the company, but we´ve ordered wine from them before - and took along my best mate and her husband who were visiting from england at the time. It was great - we went on a boat ride up to heidelberg, then had lunch, did a tour of the wine cellar, then the wine tasting - my mate found all the wines too sweet for her taste, so I got given them all - nice one, I´ll take her along again!!! On the trip back to Stutty on the coach, they cracked open some more wine and handed it around - we had a great time!!
