Wow ... the draw for the world cup was on Friday and nobody has made a post here about it.

Residents of Frankfurt, Cologne and Nuremberg board up your windows ... the England fans are coming.

Yep, I'm quite surprised that none of my friends, relatives and strangers who know I live here have asked to come and stay for a week or two.
Nicole
More tickets are available today according to the news this morning. My dad was advising me to rent out my spare room to make a few bob this summer.

I am thinking of taking an extended holiday for the whole world cup period!!

My wife thought we might go on holiday in June next year. I stopped that idea short very quickly. We're going in August now.

Why would you want to miss being in the country where the finals are being staged? The atmosphere will be terrific.

Well I guess football doesn't really interest me. However I am not one of those women who complains about her man watching football all the time I do understand the excitement I just don't feel it myself!

Maybe I'll feel differently when the time comes I am sure the atmosphere will be great.

You have every right to complain if he watches/supports German football. biggrin.gif

Well I thought I had tickets for England when I heard the draw but upon checking I see I have:

South Korea vs Togo

and

Portugal vs Iran

Doh! Still I can try again today at 12:00
luke
Makes you realise what a joke the whole ticketing system is. Why sell tickets when you don't know who is playing. Makes no sense at all.

Will you be cheering for Togo or Korea? You could always just stay in the beer tent.
Neil373
Getting tickets seems to be damned near impossible, and even if you can get one, five hundred quid for 90 minutes of watching what could be quite a dull game is a bit steep.

Add to that the pubs full of football louts getting hammered and thousands of police who err on the side of caution and treat everyone as a potential hooligan...

I just can't get excited about it... I think I'll go sailing instead.
willy
DO get excited about it!! Having been to the last WC 2002 in Korea/Japan and having seen a handful of games, you really don't need to be "IN" the stadiums to enjoy the spirit. In fact, the streets/pubs are where the real fun is!! Save your money and effort and get your friends together, paint your faces and head down to your town's party district and celebrate!!!

Football's coming home, it's coming home ...
luke
Is that you, World Cup Willy?
willy
Yes, I could be the next World Cup Willy ...
Mulba
Just applied for tickets for Englands game in Frankfurt.
Chances are slim to none but i can dream right???
