OK, now this is beyond a joke... I went to the UK again last weekend and when I came back last night, I find that my TV channels have completely disappeared! Absolutely nothing, zilch, de nada, nichts... What on earth is going on. I rang sky technical support but gave up because I had a 37 minute wait hanging on the telephone...
Any ideas anyone?
I'd be very carefull Avril ! ...never call Sky from a German number ...unless you have one of those dialer boxes which can mimic a UK number.
Unless Sky have pulled the plug is read does sound like your dish has moved,
doesn't have to be much of a moement either.

I call them all the time, never had a problem, try the general number and they should be able to patch you through, hopefully with a shorter wait.
Well that's what I was told, or to use a mobile

Here's some info from a spanish expat site

NEVER PHONE SKY FROM ABROAD UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.

I can't emphasise this too much. If you want to contact Sky (because
your card doesn't work or to buy a PPV programme or whatever) then you
should give your friend in the UK a call and get him to do it for you.
This is totally reliable and safe. You may be able to side-step this by
using a UK registered mobile from abroad or by using a call-back
service or other third party operator or a 3-way call originating from
the UK but then again, maybe not. If you call Sky direct on a landline
they will know that you are calling from abroad and they may switch off
the card and box that you have gone to so much trouble to get. The
choice is yours. I know what I do.

Dont ask a forum, ask A TV/Engineer to call and fix it.
You give too fe detail.
My car stopped...!
Just as good a statement as " I lost my pictures!"
Careless.?

one point when calling is to have all your details ready including your UK address, it would be easy to give your german address by mistake.
One way to avoid the problem is to call via skype.

I call them a lot from here. In fact, it was somebody at Sky who originally told me how to get Sky tv here!
The signal strength and quality are very high (better than last week when I only had partial channels), so will check whether dish has moved - somehow I don't think so tho. Maybe its the equipment has given up the ghost? Bad timing - 6 weeks before I leave Germany, and no TV over xmas... now what can I do instead <sigh>

got mine going again

just switched on the digibox and pulled up the settings menu.
The signal strength was about 75% and the signal quality was very low so i pushed the sat a bit in one direction and it got worse so i gave it a push in the other direction and the bar got longer. after a couple of goes i have got it to the best i can and all programmes are working just fine..
The signal quality is about 60% now
must have mis-aligned in the winds the other week..

Hi
Same here... while I was away last week, Otto had a look and found that the dish had moved, so he realigned it and now I have all channels again - phew - in time for Xmas...
