Does anybody know how I would go about getting a copy of my German marriage certificate, bearing in mind that I am in the UK now.

Probably only be able to get a copy (if at all) from the Standesamt where you were married. As far as I know there is no central registry here.
Correct. Contact the Standesamt where you got married.
