minus the double registered users that should bring it down to about 750 britboarders... would be a nice party
mind you did you see the mess we made at the last Hagen meet up
the waitress asked us to clean up before we left...second picture in posting 10
Zipper bag repairer / replacer? Where?

hmmm we should have a big meetup next year though...

@Neil373: who mentioned anything about a uniform...
@Muffin: good idea, maybe not Heidelberg though this time - got the impression that it is not that easy for people to get to.
Reckon Frankfurt will be as good as place as any, there's a lot of you there anyway (we can all go round to Number 10's) and there's quite a few of us within a two hour train radius: Hagen, Stuttgart, Cologne, Hannover, and a few fast trains from further North. Some thing to mull on in the new year...

Have we got to be really German and start thinking of a date soon???

Nov 21 2005, 1:09 pm
Well, we were talking about this on the weekend, thinking Frankfurt would be a good place (hint, hint) and someone mentioned it being in April... Any other ideas?
Purple Muffin
Nov 21 2005, 1:16 pm
April sounds good I have not plans as of yet personally!!! Maybe the weather will be a bit nicer after Easter??? Or combine it with the Easter holidays. I honestly don't mind as I probably won't be up to much in April due to saving from excess ski holidays!!!
Oh we could rent out the Ebbelwei Expreß if we get enough of us! That might be good fun

Nov 21 2005, 2:05 pm
No need Muffin, I'll save you the effort
Here's the application form:
The minimum number of people is 22, which gets you a single unit tram for EUR 77 per hour, then you can add either another one or two carriages taking capacity up to 44 or 66. The price for 44 people is 128 p/h and for 66 people it's 169 p/h.
The minimum renting time is two hours.
Surprisingly reasonable - even for just 22 people, a three hour trip will only be just over EUR 10 per head (plus drinks of course), and you get to decide the route!
Number 10
Nov 21 2005, 2:09 pm
Sounds a right giggle !!! Get it booked i say!!
Especially if it gets me out of hosting a dinner party for 750 britboarders !!!
Neil373
Nov 21 2005, 2:12 pm
Here's an idea No10, if you book it, then we'll let you off the party at your place
Does anyone know how to Post a Poll type thingy to see who'd be interested?
HamburgChris
Nov 21 2005, 2:19 pm
Funny, but true... I know someone who has a cleaner. She cleans up before the cleaner comes, as she is too embarrassed to leave certain things out.
Brighton, where I come from, used to have trams, as did Hamburg, where I am now. I think they should reintroduce trams in both cities!

Well, hey i don't actually have a problem with that...i'm not adverse to a little organising...
I actually did the applewine tram a few weeks ago when my brother came over to visit, it's good fun...
Your poll idea actually sounds a good plan...especially if the numbers could be pretty high by the sounds of it.
Oh, and the party at my place isn't necessarily a no goer you know!! Now it's clean i'm up as much entertaining as possible!!! I just can't accommodate the whole britboard!!!

Nov 21 2005, 2:54 pm
well we might be better off moving this thread across to the appropriate forum, or starting a new one then - if we are going to be this organised

Ha Neil I just rang them!!! They are sending me the details!!!
The guy said 145€ plus MWST for a two hour trip and that the smallest train they had took up to 30 people.
Off the top of my head I can probably already think of 15 people who would want to come along!
So yes we would be looking at about 10€ a head plus drinks not at all bad really.

Ok so after a few discussions over on the cleaning lady thread we thought it might be nice to organise a universal meetup again.
Frankfurt has been suggested as the place as it is quite central for a few people and reasonably easy to get to.
We were thinking of some time in April and would like to set a date sooner rather than later so people coming from a bit further afield can make the necessary travel/hotel arrangements. So if you would like to come and there are any weekends you cannot make in April please say now!
I assume we will just do a poll of the favourite dates and go with the majority
One possible idea is to take a ride on the Ebbelwoi Expreß
http://www.stoeffche.de/express/But of course any other suggestions people may have are also welcome!
Oh and for those Frankfurters who have heard me say 'this is the last time I organise anything' you know I didn't mean it really don't you

Right, time to put my German "organised fun" hat on...
I would be able to make it either on the 1st or the 8th of April.
And don't forget when casting your votes, 14-17 April is Easter.
Purple Muffin
Nov 21 2005, 3:31 pm
Yep had taken Easter into consideration!!! I was thinking maybe after Easter but I am reasonably flexible!

Nov 21 2005, 3:31 pm
just my pennies worth ...
I am up for it (meetup would be good too), but April is as far as I know Easter (15th-16th), which means school holidays and may exclude people with kids.
bbulldog
Nov 21 2005, 3:35 pm
well looking at the calendar we have for Sat-Sunday
1-2nd
8-9th
15-16th - Easter
22-23rd
29-30th
then maybe even May
6-7th
13-14th
so it might be worth making a list of who can come on what dates?
just copying the above list and a yes/no after the dates...
Nicole
Nov 21 2005, 3:41 pm
1-2nd yes
8-9th yes
15-16th - Easter no
22-23rd yes
29-30th yes
then maybe even May
6-7th yes
13-14th no
Sounds like fun, let's hope this one gets off the ground this time as the other one wasn't overly subscribed after some dissent amongst the ranks
Purple Muffin
Nov 21 2005, 3:43 pm
1-2nd - Y
8-9th - Y
15-16th - Easter - Yes possibly!
22-23rd - Y
29-30th - Y
then maybe even May
6-7th
13-14th
I am not sure I can make a commitment for May yet as it is likely I will be going to South Africa for a month around that time

Nov 21 2005, 3:45 pm
here the current status .. I am taking an informed guess that I will be away at Easter...
1-2nd yes
8-9th no
15-16th - Easter no
22-23rd no
29-30th yes
then maybe even May
6-7th ??
13-14th yes
Purple Muffin
Nov 21 2005, 3:46 pm
Actually 29th/30th would be a good one maybe as there is the May day holiday on the Monday. I am thinking about the people who are coming a bit further...

Nov 21 2005, 3:57 pm
1-2nd yes
8-9th probably away
15-16th - Easter probably away
22-23rd probably away
29-30th yes
then maybe even May
6-7th not sure
13-14th not sure
think we had it this year on May bank holiday for the same reason, but a few people dropped out as it was a good time for a long weekend away - so I don't think that will be a good date...
do they serve beer on this train?
Neil373
Nov 21 2005, 3:57 pm
1-2nd - Yes
8-9th - Yes
15-16th - Easter - No
22-23rd - No
29-30th - Not sure, depends if there are any storms in the Med
6-7th - Yes
13-14th - Yes
Jeez, this is so organised that even my super-efficient Swiss colleagues would be proud of me !

Easter is pretty boring as a single person or young couple.. so I suggest the easter weekend!
Bombi

I think 29th-30th sounds the best, it's after the Easter holidays and it shouldn't be too cold then. May is not a good month for me.

It was Frohnleichnahm or however you spell it! You do have a point there though about it being a long weekend. Does anyone know when Himmelfahrt is?

If we hire it out we can actually take our own drinks! I think on there they only sell apple wine and water.
So my suggestion if we go down that route is to organise a few crates of something depending on numbers! So the beer drinkers are also catered for then

might be a nice thing for someone to check out a few hotels, no rush for that but it might be good to get most people who are staying overnight in the same hotel?
