Erlend Oye @ Registratur, Munich - Sat 29.May.04

More brilliant music no one will go to

Big C
Erlend Oye (!K7) is playing at Die Registratur on Saturday 29th May.

Link to club's site with more info.

Erlend Oye was the frontman for "Kings of Convenience ". He also sang on "Poor Leno" for Royksopp. He released a great first solo album "Unrest" last year. And now you have a chance to see him live with the regular DJs at the Registratur in MUNICH!

So once again I plead with you to go and see some great music. He's on the !K7 label, which I've mentioned before always had great artists.

I'm going whatever, as I've never been to Die Registratur before. Hope you can join me.

Well, I just wanted to post to support BigC really. I won't be going, I still think that the masters of drun n bass are Bonzo and Jonesy.

Where the fuck is Beans when I need her

Big C, I'm sorry no one is supporting you in your quest for cool music, because you are one of THE Toytown sources for what is playing live and is hip to listen to. I would like to occasionally come to something, but as I am not familiar with any of it, I want to listen to it first. When I go to Mr. Oye's page and try and listen to a song, it opens up in FrontPage for some bizarre reason. I've had similar trouble trying to get an idea of other groups' grooves too. Okay, nothing has opened up in FP before, but still, no way of hearing what they sound like. Any suggestions of how to get a feel for it first?

Well if you know Royksopp then it is similar to that kinda thing. It's NOT drum'n'bass as Don suggested. (although I don't know what style the DJs will be playing).
According to the Registratur flyer he will be singing live. So I don't know exactly what that means.

For a taster go to amazon.com - search "erlend oye", click on "unrest" the album and you can hear clips.
Also go to hmv.co.uk - search "oye" click "unrest" the album and again you can hear clips. I don't have any of his stuff with me, otherwise I would host some songs for you.
Alternatively go into a music store and ask to listen? Maybe they have listening posts?
As for his website - it opens a Flash site, you can hear songs by clicking on the countries and selecting "listen to a song", which then plays a RealMedia clip.

Also go to http://www.k7.com where you can listen to clips from his new single, and his mix CD for !K7 - DJ Kicks. (all in RealMedia format)

Having not been to Registratur before I don't know what the music richtung there is like, but I've heard good things. I do know Erlend Oye and his stuff is certainly not hard.

I just hope with some of these posts I encourage some people to come listen to some good music with me!

I might come to this. I like Kings of Convenience and I missed him when he played in Berlin while I was there.

As always, I'm there to support BigC!!! He always knows where to find great music (except that d&b thing in Tiefenrausch...)!!!
Big C
Hey the music was good, just there was no one there!
GreenCurry
You're right Jeff .. Big C does know where to find them. But I wasn't at Tiefenrausch so can't say anything

I'll be there. trying to get Andre & Amy to come along!

OK, dunno if anyone is going to this one.
Well I am and I shall go to Brik before hand because I like the bar. So I'll be in Brik from 10.30pm and then go on to Registratur for 12ish I reckon.

Anyone joining me?
ellewood

Big C
Just in case anyones interested. It´t tonight and I´m still going.
So BRIK between 10.30 and 11.30 if you´re interested!
Big C
Well I had a great night! A somewhat random night and suprise collection of people!
Music was perfect in Resgistratur, nice sound in there and NO DOOR POLICY!!!
Erlend Oye played a fun set, the highlight for me being him singing "poor leno" live. He DJed and sang alone and although not the best DJ he played some great tunes. I shall definately be going back to Registratur before I leave.

P.S. Brummie - great dancing to "Take On Me" with you, glad you could hack the pace unlike the others (who left early!)
