Hi everyone

Can anyone please recommend an English speaking Doctor in Darmstadt.

I am asthmatic and will very soon need to get some more inhalers as I am running out...

Anyone?

Thanks in advance.

Neil I am pretty sure all them would speak English as I cannot imagine getting through a degree in medicine without having to attend the odd lecture in English!!!

I do not know any in Darmstadt maybe someone else can help but I assume you need to go to a Hausarzt first and they will transfer you if needbe. biggrin.gif

Hi Neil

There´s a list of english speaking doctors at the British Embassy website:

http://www.britischebotschaft.de/en/consul...urt_doctors.pdf

and of course, the U.S. Consulate has an even bigger one:

http://frankfurt.usconsulate.gov/frankfurt...076/doctors.pdf

Or just go into a chemist (not one you would visit regularly) with an empty inhaler and ask for a new one in English, and when they tell you that you can´t have one and you have to go to the doctor for a prescription, tell them that you´re only here on a stopover and have to take a 14 hour flight to singapore in two hours time... after a bit of stomping of feet and making huffing noises the chemist normally gives in and gives you the inhaler just to get rid of you !!

Good Luck

Hi Neil

The Apotheke at the main station speaks English or at least the young guy does and is very helpful plus my doctor who I have only used once in 4 years Dr. Barbara Kunz, Darmstadt, Holzhofallee 35, Tel. 06151/311359, its just 100 yards from the Darmstadter Echo and over the road from Wella. The receptionist is not so hot on english, but if you can get someone to call for you who is more 'local' then its not a problem, either that or jsut turn up yourself. Hope it helps

I just switched Doctors, mostly just a matter of asking around. I really lucked out, first place I stopped in She had worked in England for 3 years so was fine with English.

If you don't mind half English/German most Doctors can get by.

Thanks to all for your advice.

I did a search on the Dr. Kunz details above and found a list with a few on, so will make some calls tomorrow.

Then the only thing left to arrange will be the 80cm dish! wink.gif
