So my friends want some good weiß beer for a party in July.

Anyone know of a good service where you can get some nice weiß beer in the UK.

Have tried looking in tescos and sainsburys last time I was back but nothing there sad.gif

Ideas anyone?

West London, near Heathrow.

Another option I am considering is taking a case of beer as my hold baggage...

The Porterhouse in covent garden serves Weissbier. You might wanna ask there...

There are random "beer shops" around in England. I know there is one in Brighton, which sells just about every kind of beer and cider in the world. You can get weissbier usw. there, but it costs a lot more - obviously.

there used to beer shop around clarkenwell road (i think) called the (suprise suprie) the beer shop, if its still there thy had erdinger, but it was humungousley expensive.

I wont ever step inside the porter house again, and they will never get any of my trade again.

And I wouldnt say Erdinger is really a good example of weiß bier smile.gif

I'll keep looking around those links, and see what I find.

Ta for the info so far, anyone with anything else, please shout!

Safeway:
Last time I was back, they had Franziskaner (white beer, and dark white beer), Erdinger and Schneider. The fact that a bunch of uneducated fools with business practices stuck in the 1930's are now in control of Safeway means that they now probably only stock Tetleys bitter, but its worth a look.

Waitrose:
If you can find a good Waitrose, they have their own branded whitebeer, in normal and dark varieties. It's actually a beer from Plattling, and is the dogs nadgers, but pricey.

Apart from that, its hit & miss. Some offies will have it , but even if one Unwins does, the next one down the road won't.

Best info I can offer.

Here's the beer shop on Pitfield str. in Clerkenwell: click on 'beer lists' on the left hand side and then 'German beers' on the right (sorry patronising)

Pitfield Beer Shop London

Anyway they've got the usual munich suspects for 1,95 a bottle - which is about €3 so not more expensive than drinking out here I guess. I think if you call ahead they could get you a crate of most things.

EDIT: just noticed that the 1,95 was the price in 2002. Might be a bit more now.

@Brummie - wow! Now I can finally go back to England knowing I won't be missing ANYTHING from here. (apart from Toytowners) biggrin.gif
