Sounds good to me, how much will it be? 4 a-side isn't too bad, at least if we get it up and running more people may want to join in later. Spot on Chumley Warner!

Thursdays are also generally good for me too, I can make it up in my Alfa from Bonn.
24th will be in the UK though sad.gif

So I just tried to ring the Clark's Family Sportpark and they no longer exist. Also the sports hall has been turned into poncey tennis courts - so five aside is not going to be played there then. Damn sad.gif

Anyone else got an idea ? - I would be up for Bonn if there is a place there.

I've been having a quick look for footballing venues during my lunch break and these places are not easy to find. I mean, yes I've found the cageball ones and the 'soccer' (grrrrrrrrr) centres but it looks generally as if we'd have to fork out around 60 euros for 1-1.5 hours. Would be better if we could find a school hall or something a bit less marketed.

As for footy in Bonn, if the majority would be up for that then go ahead. Me personally though would find that a bit difficult and would probably have to decline.

Let's keep ears to the ground... wink.gif

I would say that if the majority of us are from Cologne then we should play here. Otherwise we can alternate venues if it's 50 - 50. We could even have Expat Cologne against Expat Bonn 5-aside wink.gif . If you have problems getting to Bonn I am sure that one of us can take you. Would make sense to carshare anyway.

Hey I just read your post, I'm moving over sometime in the next year (ie before december) and have contacted the local Ultimate Frisbee team about joining them at their training sessions, if you are looking for something left field ultimate would be the sport, its fantastic exercise and the Koln team are among the best in germany ohmy.gif) they seem very friendly with regular training sessions, see http://www.fruehsport02.de/ for details

I'm up for doing pretty much anything, though away for 30th-12th, maybe if something is organised in a jiffy for this Thursday I'd probably be in!

Ultimate frisbee definitely, never played the game itself but last time I chucked around a frisbee last year was great fun and plenty of exercise

Ultimate rocks my world, check out this link for a brief summary of how to play...

There's a German National league (indoors and outdoors), I spend the best part of my summer on the beach playing beach ultimate (more girls and more drink, much happier combination)... go on you know you want to ohmy.gif)

Hey guys..this is supposed to be a getting fit thread, if I wanted to throw a frisbee then I would buy a dog. Start your own thread laugh.gif

Hahaha thats some vintage humour, no really back in the 80's when they first cracked that it was soo funny, hasn't lost any of its splendor in old age tongue.gif

Hey all,

Without moving away from the original posters point - I am based in Duss and know of a decent squash club 2 minutes walk from Bilk S-Bahn.

All I need is someone of average ability (like myself) to play against once a week

I'd prefer a tueday or thursday but am fairly flexible.

Cheers

TC

PS. Am also up for badminton, tennis, running, etc - so long as its in Duss.

I have asked a colleague of mine who has lived all his life to suggest some venues for this in Cologne.
Any other suggestions ?

Cheers Alfisti, I too have asked a couple of people and am just waiting to hear - although not holding my breath and will keep eyes open still.

I have also spoken with people at work, apparently there might be something adjacent to the Rheine Energie Stadium, one colleague said he knows people rent the pitches directly adjacent to the ground...I will speak to him again next week...I too am not holding my breath...for a supposedly football obsessed country finding some facilities somewhere this is like walking through treacle wearing the biggest pair of wellies, since Lord Wellington ate the biggest Beef Wellington before the battle of Waterloo...in his wellies.

if i get that right you are looking for a place to play footy right? or is that about the squash now? sorry cant be arsed to read it all!

there is a patch in one of the parts of the "gruenguertel park", well it was there a few years back and i dont think it would just disappear, its the bit between vogelsanger str and the park where aachener weier is, there is a school next to it and they have a footy patch anyone was allowed to use it outsite of school hours. (might be still like that)

then there is at least 1, not sure there might be 2 next to each other, but at least one behind ehrenfeld bahnhof, venloer str exit, but then turn right, instead of going left towards venloer, there is a playground across the road and its right next to that.

if i remember any other ones i'll let you know.
