You're more than welcome glad to hear it's not as bad as I thought, BTW I'm going to try and get in touch with the Stadt in Bonn tomorrow and find out the relevance of these new certificates, let you know if anything interesting happens.

thanx, I was talking "in general" using examples, because I know some ppl who have this problems with the employers.
Did anyone find out yet what this "Berechtigungs"thing costs? And if it is not to much, I think it would be easier just to get it, just in case.
Adi
It's free!!! (As long as you forget how much tax you're paying to fund the huge level of local government bureaucracy in Germany).

I am saying what happened 3 years ago. I didn't make a drama out of it biggrin.gif

smile.gif There are enough dramas, so why create another one, if it is so easy to get this thing now, even for free. If you need it, you have it, if you don't need it and nobody wants to see it, it won't hurt to have it anyway.

"...it won't hurt to have it anyway."

If they would just put one on the post to me, I would agree - but I think they will want me to do something like this:-

1. Get up much earlier than usual and drive to Dieburg;

2. Get a ticket and wait with the 20 or so asylum seekers already there (they did away with the EU citizens separation idea when they moved to Dieburg);

3. Once the beamters start arriving 08:30 - 09:00, wait some more until they get to me;

4. Get sent back to wait while they figure out what paper I need and how to do it (then they go for a coffee and a fag);

5. About 11:00, all finished - drive to work.

6. If my boss has noticed just how late I arrived, then I might be losing a day's pay (I am a contractor).

Of course, if I don't have any of the documents, photographs or other crap they need then I will be repeating this exercise.

This was the pattern of my last two encounters with the Auslanderbeherde...

I don't mind having to have some bit pf paper but I don't enjoy the process of obtaining them.

depends on, where you live. The first Aufenthaltsgenehmigung for my bf was a bit like this cuz he had to go to the Ausländerbehörde in a big city.
Now we live in a small village. He dropped it in an envelope on way to work at the Gemeinde's mailbox and they sent it to the next bigger town to get it renewed.
They gave us a call when they received it back, and my dad went there to get it smile.gif

They just sent me a letter with some blank spaces. I filled in my passport details (could have sent photocopy of passport) and posted back. About a week later I received (by post) an A4 sheet with the details I sent them printed out nicely as a type of Urkunde. Cost the price of a stamp.
Hannah
ah, not to bad then Adi smile.gif

@jg

You sum up my problem with it so well, I've had similar experiences and as far as I'm concerned if it is wished (as far as I know I am not obliged to carry this document with me or possess it at all) that I have the certificate then they can send me one, I will not be jumping through any hoops just to make the Behörden happy.

I moved here in June, went off the local Rathaus, told them that I have just moved from England. They checked my passport and gave me an Anmeldung, thats all. Didn't want anything else. I hope I've done everything I should have done! blink.gif

Contrary to the popular feeling, I think German bureaucracy functions well. Maybe I have just been lucky but after 6 years I've encountered it on many occassions and have not had any problems with waiting, confusion over documentation, etc.

Maybe it's because I'm not in a big city like the majority of migrants. I could imagine that in Hamburg, Berlin, Frankfurt the Beamten would be feeling a bit less cooperative.

biggrin.gif
Hannah
i guess so Hellie. But you still could try to claim some money for the fuel back and get a free treatment by a doctor cuz your bum might have hurt after sitting for hours in the Rathaus.
Right, Fuchs? tongue.gif
Hannah
SHUT UP now Fuchs, you drive me nuts biggrin.gif

I am so glad, that at least Adi seems to be a bit on my side biggrin.gif
Hellie
Hannah, I went to the local Städt Buro, was in and out within 10 minutes tongue.gif
Hannah
only 10 minutes? that is suspicious ohmy.gif

i better stop now, it's getting to OT biggrin.gif

I had no probs either. It took me "only" 5 mins to register in Weil der Stadt when I moved. The bigger the town, the longer you will have to wait. I even had my new driving license back within 6 days. Even though they told me it would take 2-3 weeks.

I know that Gemans do like their "Stempels" but some "Beamters" do work very efficient. They are so proud when they can use a Stempel that is not normally on the daily routine.
I always love the expression on the policemens face when I ask them to stamp my passport @ the airport. I just say that I collect them, and I always get a pristine Stamp in my little red book ( passport )

German burocracy is not always bad, sometimes, but not always...

Hannah I know, I have that effect on women wink.gif

There are no sides here we're just trying to get to the bottom of it and I have just spoken to a very friendly Beamter (unusual as it sounds) over the phone who explained the situation very clearly.

The old "Aufenthaltserlaubnisse" if "Unbefristet" are still according to an "Übergangsregelung" valid, that is why holders of "Aufenthaltserlaubnisse" have not yet received the new "Freizügigkeitsbescheinigung".

I then asked "Do I have to have one of these new forms"

There then followed lots of umm-ing and ah-ing "Well no not really but it could be advantageous (Vorteilhaft) if you acquire one" Whatever that means?

I then asked "how do I get one?"

Reply "Give me your Passport number, I'll check it against the one I have in my computer and then send you one free of cost"

Hmmmm so I dont need one, but the Behörden are producing them and advising people to have them, you know what I think?

What would the Beamten who were employed to issue the old Aufenthaltserlaubnisse have done if there were no replacement? Cant sack a Beamter need to keep them occupied, see where I'm coming from? blink.gif

and? did you give him your passport number and will get one for free or "Thanx for the information but you can shiver the thing up your arse?"

I can what?

That sounds painful ohmy.gif
Hannah
not you. HE (when he offered to send you the Bescheinigung), what did you answer? tongue.gif

(guess i meant shove, not shiver) :$
Fuchs66
Ahhhh sorry I dont share your bum fetish wink.gif

Like I said before (post 60) I dont mind if they send me one I'm just not going to go out of my way to get one and as he offered I thought bugger it I'll see what they look like.

I shall be ceremonially consigning this useless document to File 13 as soon as I've had a look at it, where it will join it's predecessor. biggrin.gif

Edit to add: Having a fresh crispy sheet of A4 shoved up my bum would make me shiver too wink.gif

add to edit: or do i mean blow up huh.gif
