Hi all biggrin.gif

I'm 23 years old, born in Frankfurt and love the british culture / great britan in general. I know many pubs from England, Scotland and Ireland and love them because of the atmosphere etc, you know what i mean.

I was in different Pubs in Frankfurt ... MacGowans, Yours Irish Pub, O'Reillys, An Sibin, Anglo Irish, O'Dwyers, Fox & Grapes, Fox & Hound, Irish Pub Airport etc ... !

Does have someone an insider-typ where I found an Pub I don't know?

It would be nice if you can tell me all the Pubs in FFM you know ...! I'm searching for a new Pub experience wink.gif

Does the Molly Malone in Rotlintstrasse exist or has it closed?

My favourite three Pubs in FFM are:

MacGowans - Nice atmosphere and sweet waitress wink.gif & live football
Yours Irish Pub (Börse) - Very big and cool atmosphere
Anglo-Irish Sachsenhausen - small and very "gemütlich" (don't know the word in english)

What are your favourite Pubs? Even if they are not original, i like it better than most of the german "kneipen" except the good old Äppelwoi-Kneipen.

Cheers, Daniel

BTW: How's the new name of the Pub in Berger Strasse? (Ex-Mac Gowans) Do they have an Internet Homepage?

Hey!! I only know about 60% of them. I've only been here 7 months, for goodness sake. give me a bit of time! ... muffin knows them all but unfortunately she's on holiday at the moment.

The new name of MacGowan's here is something Irish that I can't pronounce. I walk by there quite a bit since it's next door to my place, so I'll write it down and post it for you.

Cheers,
Rebecca

Write it, Rebecca, and I tell you what it means and give you a (rough) phonetic rendering of the pronunciation.

This is my first post on this forum. I accepted a job offer for a research position at die Bergische Universität Wuppertal on Monday and I'll be heading over to Wuppertal in a few weeks time.

Though I did a few years of German in school, I've never been to Germany and am rapidly trying to learn as much about the practicalities of living there ( ohmy.gif ).

After reading a fair number of posts on this forum, I'm bracing myself for, at the very least, a mild case of culture shock and am beginning to wonder what I've let myself in for! unsure.gif

Are there any Irish pubs in the Wuppertal area or any place where you can hear a bit of live music?

I think Wuppertal's not too far from either Köln or Düsseldorf and there seem to be a good few Irish pubs in both cities. Any recommendations?

Is Mell the only one on the forum living in the Wuppertal area?

That's enough for a first post.

all the best,

Imirceach

Hi imirceach ... welcome to the board! A good friend of ours works during the week in Wuppertal - thankfully, it's not as bad, as it sounds!!

I'll ask him for his picks ... biggrin.gif

Thanks, Willy, much appreciated.

And if you're an attractive female, I'll even arrange a date ... ha ha!! laugh.gif
imirceach
No, I'm not a female.

On the other hand, if you know any attractive (available) females in the area... laugh.gif
