Nationale Partei Deutschland, what else ?

If you really believe in the NPD policies then, I suppose, you have the right to vote for them as we live in democracy. However if you just voting for them as you're pissed off with the major parties and haven't really understood what the NPD stands for. Then God help us all.

I can maybe understand some people's dissatisifaction with the German main stream political parties. Here in the former East Germany the NPD has a large support. I believe one in six people voted NPD in Sachsen/Leipzig. There's a real danger they could get into power. I really hope the main stream parties address people's concerns and support for extreme parties doesn't increase.
bbulldog
What Dorf do the Dorfen come from?

Well Eric...I guess that many have lost faith in the main parties and a radical change seems to be the only way to go forward. Unless ofcourse somebody comes up with a better idea on how to get Germany out of the shit again...and they better come up with it soon.
Ami in Berlin
Cool, 37.5% (when I wrote this) of the people on this board would vote for a party that would expell them from the country. Very funny.

Dont think so we are europeans biggrin.gif

Don't be so sure. They would leave the EU, and I have a feeling that you Brits would be pretty near the top of their shit list.

Many right-wingers don't give a shit what you skin colour is, if you aren't German, you don't need to live here, EU or no EU.

Forget the NPD
I am far more concerned by those poor deluded fools voting FDP.
What drugs are these people on?

And as for the Dorfen is that like the "Bavarian Party for Village Idiots"

I totally agree with eric on this one. I voted for the spd, but just because the alternatives are quite scary...

Have you lot had a sense of humor bypass this morning.
People are taking the piss with the NPD thing!!! Chill
luke
What's up with the FDP? they're the closest thing you get to Thatcher's conservative party whose policies in the 1980s are the reason why UK is doing so well compared to continental Europe.

NPD - ist that not the Nazi Partei Deutschlands ??? ph34r.gif

you still owe me an answer, Luke dry.gif
Can't vote for the Dorfen if I don't know what they stand for. Maybe you'll explain it? smile.gif
luke
If by "the poor" you mean certain sections of society who prefer to live off hand-outs than go out and find a job then yes.

And don't think for one moment that I'm having a go at the unemployed. I'm referring to the spongers - perfectly capable human beings who feel it is they're God-given right to have the job of their choice in the place of their choice. Get real. The world had moved on.
zwackel
I suggest you read the manifesto of the FDP (as i did, by the way) more carefully if you really think the FDP is only targeting the "unemployed" who are "unwilling" to work.

Unsocial manifesto have nothing to do with a world that has "moved on".
luke
Sorry Hannah, nobody. Just got carried away when I started typing "die Grünen, die Linken usw"

People like Able shouldn't be allowed to look at trees rolleyes.gif

I know but as I said they're only the "nearest". But if they get enough votes they'll be able to get things going in the right direction while CDU/CSU retains social responsibilty.

There is no poll for DAB
rick_de
At last - a poll that we expats can take part in! The answer to my prayers.

Im not going to vote for any of them - none of them are any bloody good!

But if it comes to the crunch, then Id probably go for Maggie Merkels CDU, even though they`re unlikely to give us expats and Ausländer the vote, at least I think she might marginally shake up Germany`s economy a bit more than Schröder, to say nothing of that La-Fountaine-of-Yesterdays-Wisdom. As for NPD and all that mob, apart from being zenophobic and offensive, they have nothing to offer on the economic front. And the Greens are more obsessed with Dosenpfand & recycling yoghurt than the real economy.

So thats my take on the issues at hand!
Adi
OK... hands up all those students who voted for The Greens.
Ami in Berlin
They employ my significant other, so I plead guilty. Looking solely at the parties, they'd probably get my vote anyway, but I want Angie to win, so I'd be torn.

Let me explain. Any Schröder led government will be incredibly shaky and have to rely on the support, even if not in coalition, of the links-nutjobs. It would be an even more innefective government than what we have now.

The German economy desprately needs to be reformed (and the Greens have been more willing to do this than the SPD rank and file, by the way), and the only way to get that done is with Angie.

I also find a lot of the criticism of Angie to be distasteful (who cares what her hari looks like?). She couldn't possibly do worse than Schröder, so why not give her a chance?

The Greens also need to open up to the next generation (and ditch their last radical roots), and some time in opposition may make that easier.
alice-bb
That woman winds me up like you wouldn't believe.
Shes acting like she is Chancellor already.
And don't let me get started on Stoiber mad.gif
I agree with you up to a point. I can't stand the real lefty brigade in the Greens.
They are like Guardian readers on acid.
And I have no faith in the SPD anymore (not that I ever had much)
But can you honestly see the Greens and CDU/CSU lot actually cooperating effectively.
What do you think the election result will be?

EDIT: I think time in opposition would make them more uppity not less
Ami in Berlin
QUOTE

There was talk of and Black-Green coalition, but no, that won't happen (although I think there are a few cities where it is the case).

What they need to do is what the Netherlands did in the 90s under Ruud Lubbers. Brought in all the major parties and totally reformed the economy (and the effects now are pretty clear). I don't think we'll end up with a grand coalition, and even if we did it would be for the wrong reasons (neccesity rather than choice).

She's acting like the Kanzlerin because that's basically what she is. Doesn't bother me, really. Stoiber is far worse (and is even now still annoying). He wants to be foreign minister and he doesn't even like leaving Bavaria.

My guess is that CDU/CSU gets 44%, SPD 34%, Green 8%, FDP 7%, Links 7% (they're way to high in the polls to believe).
Nicole
My kids were looking at the posters put up in town today of Schroeder and Merkel. My nine year old picked Merkel because she said Schroeder had funny eyebrows and Angie was wearing a nice necklace. Ah the wisdom of children!! tongue.gif

I simply don't understand all the people hating CDU/CSU. It is like the forget how crap SPD are :excl:

Henrik
1 our of 3 CDU votes
rick_de
When you look at what`s on offer for the upcoming election in Germany, it makes you think you`re not missing out on not having the vote:

The people`s choice:

CDU/CSU: wishy-washy Maggie Merkel? That would be an insult to the work of a great lady (Mrs. T). All we`ll see is more "Reförmchen". Nothing drastic. A couple of hundred thousand off the unemployment figures at most.

SPD: wishy-washy Schröder - "My aim in this legislature is to get unemployment down - from 3.7 to 3.5 million". What a comedian.

Die Linke/PDS: Do me a favour. Lafontaine gets into bed with the one-time SED from the then communist GDR! That has to be the biggest laugh. But also traurig, traurig..

NPD, Republikaner etc: chuck out the foreigners, keep jobs in Germany - how? Its the economics of the Third Reich when autarchy ruled. Then it was those nasty Jews who ran International Finance that the Führer had a go at. Nowadays its foreigners in Germany and foreigners outside Germany through globalization taking the jobs off the Germans (probably Jews behind that too).

FDP - some sensible ideas perhaps, but they stand as much chance in this country as a snowball in an oven.

Grünen: Pfand-for-this and Pfand-for-that: yawn. Meantime the economy goes down the tubes and 4.5 million people are looking for work!

So - (German) people - your votes please!!
zwackel
Well, it's clear then...Dorfen! tongue.gif
Adi
Alice

If I did have a vote in Germany, it sure wouldn't be for the: Greens, SPD, Linkspartei, NPD, Republikaner, die Doofen, etc. I also seriously doubt if I could support a CDU government without FDP involvement. I certainly don't support the Bavarian People's Party (CSU).

Which particular PC piece in the other thread (lack of voting right) are you referring to?
luke
I heard Angie is very demanding in the sack.
Ami in Berlin
Anyone see Stoiber's latest gaff?

Apparently the Ossies don't deserve to vote, and not everyone in Germany is as smart as the Bavarians.

The Union is making an attempt at snatching defeat from the jaws of victory that even the Democrats in my own country would be proud of.
Goldilocks
Well, people over here are not impressed by the latest comments made by Stoiber. However, I never found it harder to vote than now. They are all a pack of liars if you ask me. They all make promises before the elections and then after it's all over forget they ever made them. I haven't a clue who I am going to vote for. If I go by sympathy, I would have to vote for Guido smile.gif
