Anyone fancy getting together for a few glasses of vino? I know Yamyam is a connisseur of fine wine and I'm sure he would be more than willing to bring his expertise along and inform us of the nuances of a young Trollinger tongue.gif

might be a laugh if the weather stays nice??
reggie
Definitely up for it, Nicole, but September 3rd isn't ideal cos England are playing Wales that day. How's about the 10th?
Loopy
Think I could manage one or two... purely for cultural reasons of course... my palate needs familarising with German plonk.

Should think yamyam will need me more than one or two glasses when he gets back biggrin.gif
Clairey
Definately up for a few vino´s!

10th would probably be better for me - have requested that weekend off work anyway in Sept - won´t know if I´m free tho til end of Aug when I get my Dienstplan - its an arse innit!?

I´ll just try and slot myself in with what dates you all decide!
Loopy
10th is fine for me.

Some friends have decided to have their wedding party on the 3rd - I have already informed them I will be a bit tipsy after celebrating biggrin.gif
far-lands
Any room for a lonely expat left in your round ???

Stephen
Nicole
The 10th is looking promising then tongue.gif Stephen everyone is welcome. We don't discriminate age color or sex, tongue.gif
Nicole
I heard you can reserve a table, anyone know how to go about it???
far-lands
Age: even over 30's welome ?? tongue.gif
Colour: Which one is at the top of traffic lights ?? blink.gif
Sex: What is that ?? ph34r.gif

Stephen
Loopy
I hope over 30's are welcome otherwise there will be no one there blink.gif

- best see if you can reserve Clairey an extra big glass as well wink.gif
Nicole

Age: even over 30's welome ??

I bloody hope so or else i'll have to stay home with my zimmer frame tongue.gif
reggie
@Clairey: Bad news for you I'm afraid -- they won't be serving drinks in anything over 0.25-litre glasses, so it looks like you'll have to bring your own 1-litre Krug! laugh.gif
Loopy
judging by the enthuastic response to this thread it looks like everyone really needs a drink biggrin.gif
Clairey
No probs, I´ve got a couple at home that I nicked from the last Beer Fest , i´ll bring em along!!!
Clairey
@ Loopy, - Oh God yeah - I´m always thirsty!!! biggrin.gif
Loopy
I noticed biggrin.gif
far-lands
*lookingforewardtomeetingyouguys*

Stephen
Hellie
Stuttgart is too far for me but I'll be there in spirit...I'll be pickling myself in spirit rolleyes.gif
Loopy
@Stephen, you're an eager beaver biggrin.gif Now if you had read the other thread properly you would know that we have already surpassed ourselves with regards to organisation by agreeing on date this far in advance.
far-lands
@ Hellie, get a cheapo flight from stanstead to stutti with germanwings ...

rolleyes.gif
Hellie

far-lands
@ loopy I read it all - *promise*

Hellie
QUOTE

far-lands

far-lands
Got me !! ohmy.gif

but reading was never my strongest subject... ph34r.gif

Stephen

p.s. the 19 th is a monday, is that correct ??
Loopy
it is, but we're meeting on the 10th (the Saturday) biggrin.gif
far-lands
Hmm, the 10th ?

If I come, I will have to bring my kid with me, as I don't want to loose out on precious Time that I have with him ... I do only have him on Weekends sad.gif

Stephen
Loopy
sure, yamyam brought yamazuki with him last time and I think there have been kids at other meet-ups biggrin.gif
Loopy
Any thoughts on time yet?
yamyam
how about we put a pork pie and a bag of scrachins on top of the clock and meet up then wink.gif
reggie
QUOTE
Any thoughts on time yet?

3 p.m.? Same meeting point as last time? Or are people wanting to make it more of an evening affair this time...? Only if anybody wants to bring their kids, the afternoon would be more appropriate. What do folks think?
Loopy
3pm is fine with me

QUOTE
more of an evening affair this time

have you got Korsakoff Syndrome? biggrin.gif I left at 10 and you were all still there...
reggie
I left at 10:05, honest. wink.gif 'Cos like my dad always told me, if I'm not in bed by 10 o'clock,... I've got to go home. cool.gif
Loopy
ohmy.gif and there I was thinking what a clean cut, upstanding, young man you were
Clairey
3pm is good for me too smile.gif
JDee
I'm 'over there' that weekend, so can't make it sad.gif .. Think I'm going down this Saturday ( after the football in O'Reillys!) could be messy, Wine after beer and all that!
Loopy
@JDee, bad planning or what!

wine is supposed to be ok after beer, it's the other way round that is supposed to cause problems!

First beer then wine is fine - a German proverb, apparently blink.gif
reggie
Papperlapapp!

You go for it, John. Personally, I'll be hanging around at OR's to cheer on the Sweaties. biggrin.gif
far-lands
3pm is good, as I can come with my son.
But where exactly ?
Really looking foreward to meeting you guys !!!

Stephen
reggie
Seeing as most people will probably be arriving in Stuttgart at the Hauptbahnhof, I'd suggest meeting again at 3 p.m. at the bottom of the escalators at the bottom of Königstraße again. After the last time, it became apparent that it could be slightly confusing as to exactly which escalators are meant, so imagine you're standing on the Königstraße (big pedestrianised street full of shops), looking down it towards the Hauptbahnhof; right in front of you before the main road is a wide entrance going downwards with some wide steps going down on the left side, and two escalators (one up, one down) on the right side. The meeting place last time was at the bottom of these escalators.
JDee
Reg, what's Papperlapapp ??

@loopy yes, bad planning but I'm looking forward to the next one, whenever that is.
reggie
QUOTE
what's Papperlapapp ??

Balderdash, twaddle, tosh, bunkum, cobblers, piffle, poppycock, claptrap, bullshit ohmy.gif, guff, pap, nonsense, bilge, garbage,... errm, you get my drift? biggrin.gif
far-lands
reggie: I couldn't have said it any better...

but I think that Rubbish should have been included in your list...

Stephen
Nicole
Yamster will you be wearing your tweed suit and monocle to the wine fest???

I have to add that I don't particularly care for German wine, so if someone can recommend a very dry red then I'd appreciate it. That sweet white stuff takes the enamel off your teeth
ana
Hi, just recently discovered this board.

I'm from Canada, and I've been living in Stuttgart for 5 years now.
It's always nice to meet some new people, and other native English speakers aren't always that easy to find! smile.gif Can I come along to the next meet-up?

cheers,
Ana
far-lands
Sure ana, why not. I will be a first timer aswell.

Looking foreward to meeting you !! biggrin.gif

Stephen

I'm with you on that Nicole, not much of a white wine drinker but can drink the red stuff till the cows come home

I'm not sure if there is much to choose from as far as German red wine goes... when I was living in Tübingen the only local one I found was a Trollinger and I think they are a bit hit and miss so I am open to suggestions as well...

@Ana, welcome on board - see you on Saturday biggrin.gif

has any one told the first-timers about the initiation process yet? wink.gif
far-lands
QUOTE

@loopy, are you trying to say something ???
reggie

I thought we'd agreed that we were on dodgy legal ground the way we were doing it though...?
