Has anybody ever been to the Erlanger Bergkirchweih? It's a big fest from may 27 to June 7 this year...

http://www.erlangen.de/news.asp?Folder_id=...e=1&PageSize=10

or

http://www.der-berg-ruft.de/

Thought it might be fun to hit...possibly in combination with a visit to Nurnberg, neither of which I've yet been to...

Alternatively, any hopheads out there interested in or have been to the Lausanne beerfest?
June 12-15—12th Fête de la Bière et de la Musique Festives, Lausanne, Switzerland. www.fetedelabiere.ch, of www.abo-ch.org; abo@span.ch
Every June, the beer consumer group ABO, (l'Association des Buveurs d'Orges) organises the biggest beer-related event in Switzerland. It takes place under tents on the splendid lakeshore near Lausanne, complete with a panorama on the French Alps opposite.

thirsty?

the erlangen bergfest is the best bierfest in germany...

i could give you reasons why, but i think it's better you find out for yourself... ph34r.gif

not to be missed!

Hiya
I used to live in Erlangen.
It is the best bierfest in Germany.
No contest. It is everything you have heard about it and more.
Entla's Keller being the place of choice to wave your Stein.
And The Fat Lady (run by Swan) afterwards before a club (E-Werk) or Hühnertod for a Schnapps or a houseparty...ach, happy days...

parnell
Looks great - most interested
Katrina
I even have a collection of Entla's Steins in my kitchen smile.gif

@Katrina ...Der Berg rüft!

Can only recommend it too...

There is also the Annafest in Förcheim...but the Berg is literally THE Best bierfest in Germany. Forget the Oktoberfest. ..as that is just an overpriced tourist-trap.

Franken-ladies are also the best!!!

Hmmm...sounds like a "must not miss" to a bier connoisseuer (had to look that one up), afficionado, fanatic like myself...I have heard nothing about it...found out by accident...just wanted to make sure it wasn't another Frühlings-type-fest, the chief attraction being bright lights, carnival rides and cheesy music...assuming it's not, I guess the next question is whether anybody is up for going...and when? Too far for a day trip...?
Katrina
cb4ach - ha ha you'd know! biggrin.gif And ladies who also lived in Franken (and survived) ain't bad either, you tart! xx
VIVA BERCH!
You going? Mail me! We should go again really...
Annafest is lovely but I always, always got lost in the trees ha ha.
Katrina
*all misty-eyed in memories*

it may be a bit too far for a day trip i think...

but it makes a really nice one nighter, there is also some nice cycling to be done around there too, we did a trip up last year on a schones wochenende ticket, got off the train in nurnberg, cycled the last bit to work up a thirst and then cycled a bit of the way back the next day (to forcheim i think)... to clear out the cobwebs...

a thoroughly enjoyable weekend

Katrina, where haven't you lived? smile.gif
Katrina
Italy. wink.gif
In Germany I've lived or worked in the following places: Cologne, Erlangen, Herzogenaurach, Stuttgart, Böblingen, Frankfurt, Bad Homburg, Karlsruhe, Hamburg and Munich.
In order of time spent (from most to least): Munich, Frankfurt (twice), Erlangen, Herzo, Stuttgart, Böblingen, Cologne, Bad Homburg, Karlsruhe, Hamburg.
Add Bad Reichenhall & Salzburg to the list as places where I spend quite a bit of time and that should be the lot.
So no Berlin, no D'dorf, no Ruhrpott and no ex-DDR.
That is in over 6 years though!

who now needs a can-tan to cover up the tiredness ha ha

Herzogenaurach

So you've worked for Adidas AND Microsoft? Have you no scruples woman?
Katrina
I've said it before and I'll say it again - my kind of scruples gets paid into my bank account monthly biggrin.gif
Mind you there are 3 big companies in Herzo, Puma and INA both have their HQs there as well.

ohmy.gif Think of all of the poor programmers that sweated and toiled in poor conditions, sometimes working with dangerous software designed by Microsoft, so that you could earn your wage. Dirty money it is.

I was a freelance contractor, so I was one of the toilers/sweaters.
It was better than being on the dole and the canteen is really good.
Anyway this is all off topic so let's talk about lovely, delicious Kitzmann beer.
Oh WOW! This is *new*

Kellerausschrank at Kitzmann's smile.gif And this is the Berchbier:

I know that you can also buy Tucher Bier (and that Aufsteigsparty for the Club on Sunday will be a top night) but really Kitzmann is Franken's Augustiner.
Katrina
skint
If you go and drink that bloody Kizmann I'd seriously recommend having a couple of bottles of water next to your bed. Rotten stuff,
noddy
yes, kitzmann has been known to do funny things to a fellahs insides...
Katrina
Must be why I'm fine with it, by not being a fellah that is. rolleyes.gif

Best thing about Erlangen is that the Students get days off to go to the Berg...
Makes alot of sense as they would only skive off and bump into their drunken Lecturers on the berg anyway..

Siemens (the only other "beruf" in Erlangen), also grinds to a halt for 2 weeks...

Don't you just love Germany. It might not be Customer oriented..but definitely geared for Beer drinking wink.gif

Allan

@Katrina - you asking?
Katrina
I am.

You know you want to.
