Hi,
can anyone offer me any advice on where i would find rented accommodation advertised, which i could understand- sadly i don't yet speak German, and if there are any rental agencys - as looking at other peoples troubles- private landlords don't seem all that fair- ideally i am looking for a 3 bedroomed house in nice area for kids, near Kindergartens- any advice would be highly appreciated!!

Actually you don't want to go with a rental agency (Immobilien or Makler...spit spit!!) as they will charge you up to three months rent as their commission. There should be a housing office on the base at Vilseck, they have lists of private rentals. There should also be a base newspaper, they also list rentals in English. Even if you are not supported by the base (ID card) you should be able to use these services. Try this website too Immobilien scout It is in German but if you muddle through it, it will give you some idea of the prices in the area. Most places on here are not private rentals though. In my experience they are mostly agenicies that advertise here.

Hi Louanie,

I have found that this doc helped me a bit in trying to figure out how to look for a place: See here.

Also found that on Expatica, they also gave some terminoƶogy used in finding a place.

I found this info docs quite helpful while scouting, and we found a place on our own, in the newspaper. All we did was take someone who spoke German along with us when we viewed the places, and when looking through the contract.

Good luck wink.gif
