bbulldog
well put it this way if the England supporters club are going then the misses is not biggrin.gif
Bombi
I'd much rather see Veela than them! tongue.gif
bbulldog
i will not comment on that, dont want to be cruising for a bruising laugh.gif
Bombi
Yes you'd better behave! tongue.gif tongue.gif
bbulldog
I always behave, just dont ask Veela ph34r.gif
bbulldog
Eeengeland Eeengeland Just testing for the day biggrin.gif
Bombi
Don't you mean Waaaaaaaales, come on you Welsh! tongue.gif
Bombi
Let's see if England can better their score than against Denmark! wink.gif
bbulldog
Of course they can, they are just staying fit for the BIG match laugh.gif
Bombi
At least that shows that they take us seriously as an opponant! tongue.gif

As far as I know, they've practically qualified for the WM anyway so they could just let us win and we wouldn't mind! wink.gif
bbulldog
what for, so you think you can then play footy? nah laugh.gif
Egg Chaser
Got the day off work after all, so I can see the game!
maaph
good shout EC! Can you confirm game is to be shown in Barney's ..
bbulldog
yeah we still need to know where to go on the 3rd
maaph
yeah yeah .. hold yer 'orses!!!

Of the respondees so far (Welshrichard / bbulldog / veela / Mandrax / Egg Chaser / bombi / Slackmack / Vloid / mike_a and yours truly), 2 expressed a positive preference for Barneys - no other suggestions made so in my opinion this can (& should) be honoured ...
:excl: Disclaimer - as long as we can confirm the game is on there, which we are now doing :excl: wink.gif

After the game here are a few options of the top of me noggin:
- Kölsch Brauerei in and around Altermarkt (Peters / Früh / Gaffels (I think))
- A Spanish Tapas called ... erm ... Rosendorn I think
- Numerous cafes / restaurants along the Rhein
- a couple of jazz pubs around Altstadt
- ...
- stay in the pub

Preferences / any other suggestion most welcome
bbulldog
is that the 'only fools and' ones...

Well i am open for after the match, will go with the flow. As you say there are plenty of places. we could just flow along the altstadt. maybe for those that want to meet up after the match we could give contact mobile number, if we dont know exactly where we will be.
Bombi
For the Hagen / Wetter contingent, I've been looking at train times and suggest taking 12.39 or 13.39 from Hagen and we would get there an hour later (got to have some time to visit the shops biggrin.gif ). The last through train leaves 22.21, what do you think?
mandrax
The game will most definitely be on in Barney's.
Bombi
Good to know, are you coming too? smile.gif
maaph

are you coming too?

do you not read my posts anymore?
Bombi
I was too lazy! Drinking wine at lunch time is not a good idea, even if I wasn't paying!!! wacko.gif Bye, off to Hagen now, going to meet my second cousin who's visiting her penfriend there...
Egg Chaser
Okay, i asked in the pub yesterday. The game will of course be shown, but if it clashes with the Ireland - France game (anybody know when that is?), it'll be pictures only, with sound courtesy of RTE. Shoulf Taff (next door) have Sky installed this week, as he hopes, then I think we can be fairly sure he'll be showing the game with sound and everything. Not to mention Newcy Brown on tap...
mandrax
Unless there is an extraordinary amount of injury time it shouldn't be a problem, as the Ireland v France match is on Wednesday 7th Sept.
Bombi
Well that's good to know! biggrin.gif
bbulldog
Great so we stay for the ireland match laugh.gif
Bombi
Typical BBulldog! biggrin.gif
Egg Chaser
Ooops. well, maybe Ireland have an extremely crucial friendly or something. :$
mandrax
I believe Ireland are enjoying a day of televisual rest that day, however the Sweaties are playing Italy at 17:30 (18:30 local).
Bombi
The match should be finished by then any way - come on you Welsh! wink.gif

Time to go home biggrin.gif
Bombi
The Hagen/Wetter contingent have decided to take the 12.39 train to get to Cologne so that we've got enough time to have a walk around Cologne (also called going shopping) before we meet up with the rest. Shall we meet up with you at 3.30pm in the pub?

We would probably like to eat something after the match, can we eat in the pub or do we have to move on for that - come on you locals, the ball's in your court now! wink.gif
Egg Chaser
The menu in Barney's is rather, er, limited. Basically it consists of a selection of Walkers crisps or Gulasch-suppe (the Oasis version, where you get a roll with it). There are, of course, plenty of Brauhäuser around the corner, where you can get the trencherman treatment.
Bombi
I've eaten in Früh and that tasted good, I don't know the others.
bbulldog
Well we will find something although Veela will attack the crisps biggrin.gif
Me the beer as none of us are driving laugh.gif
Bombi
Walker's Salt and Vinegar ... heaven... :$ :$ :$

BBulldog the beer and me the Strongbow... :$
maaph
ok .. my suggestion is we leave it open for after the game. Latecomers can meet us in the pub (or we can exchange a few häändy numbers in case we do move), and let the weather / noses / hunger / alcoholic state decide where we want to go. Game will finish at about 17:45.

Agreed?
Bombi
Ok, that's fine by me. Is 3.30pm ok for a meet-up time and will you lot be inside or outside the pub (silly question I know... wink.gif )...

Do we know who is going to be arriving later? unsure.gif
bbulldog
Follow your nose Bombi, well i will mine and we will be together... biggrin.gif
If they are not there then we go in and wait for them, thirsty work that laugh.gif
Bombi
No comment!!! laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif
Vloid
I can also recommend the Fruh Brauhaus - but it is frequently packed. Good fun & atmosphere though, & the waiters are amusing. tongue.gif
Bombi
Do we have a definative list of who's joining us there now? What's happend to the female BBers. It seems that it's going to be just Veela and me... (not that we can't cope with so many men at once. wink.gif ) ohmy.gif

Non football fans could join us after the match, just let Maaph (or me) know.. smile.gif
bbulldog
what do you mean only you two, what about the England fan club? laugh.gif
Bombi
They've been banned - I thought it was either them or Veela. mad.gif I'd much prefer Veela's company! tongue.gif
bbulldog
well i would much prefer ... hey this is not fair ohmy.gif ...
Well of course Veela's company laugh.gif
Bombi
Good boy. Just don't forget what she said about you last week in my presence! tongue.gif
bbulldog
you dont think i will forget that tongue.gif
Bombi
You wouldn't be allowed to forget it either! (Two witnesses...) wink.gif
maaph
one latecomer angemeldet - mike_a. Otherwise all there at 15:30 to get seats.

In addition to normal pub-going / football supporting attire, we need something to help us recognise each other. I would suggest that we should additionally all wear a large blue and yellow bowler hat, a pink carnation, a spinning bow-tie (not the ladies), carrying an umbrella under the left arm and a copy of the Times (late Thursday edition) under the right. A pair of Dame Edna glasses is optional, but obviously this would further reduce the chance of confusion with any of the other punters.
Bombi
Glad to hear mike_a is in the land of the living. We will (should) be able to recognize him, unless he's lost his ponytail. BBulldog is normally recognisable from his loud shirts, he will be wearing an English one this time though so might not be so loud! tongue.gif
