Hubbi and I have been here the past two years and really enjoyed it. This year it is taking place on 10th and 11th September and will be going again and want to know if anyone would like to join us. BBulldog was interested, any others?

Please let me know if you are interested in going and which day, Saturday or Sunday... We could put up a poll but I think we've had enough polls for today.. tongue.gif Perhaps nobody wants to join us and we wouldn't need a poll then anyway...
maaph
must have missed that one ...

Would have been up for it, but I'm "running" the Cologne marathon on the Sunday 11th, and probably a BB meet-up isn't the best preparation.

Starting to look for potential dates for Cologne meet ...
Bombi
Shame you can't make it, it is worth it, perhaps next year. What about Neilg? He's being rather quiet! tongue.gif

Hope you manage to organise a Cologne meet-up, as I'm going to be unemployed by that time, I can't see me being busy on the weekends! (Not like at the moment where I work weekends.)

Hope your training is going well for the marathon, you must let us know how it went on after you've done it... smile.gif
maaph
training? what's that? oops, have I missed something ..

Seems everyones a bit subdued today, but maybe neilg has forgotten his password to BB .. I mean, he's not getting any younger, is he?
Bombi
Well he's nearly as old as me now so I know what's it's like being his age, I presume you can still remember that far back... smile.gif

Edit: maaph is as young as he feels and if he's still able to do marathons, then he must be feeling pretty young.
maaph
ow that hurts !!! mad.gif
Bombi
Sorry.

You were the one to mention age though first... smile.gif
Neil
I'm up for that smile.gif
Bombi
Glad to hear it Neil. Which day would suit you and Ilka best, Saturday or Sunday...?
maaph
yeah, but not yours ...
Neil
QUOTE
Which day would suit you and Ilka

probably Sat. ...but better check with the management first dry.gif
Bombi
Saturday would suit us better too. Any other BBers who want to meet up with us then, the longest queue is for the fish and chips! Although last year we even had to queue to get in, half an hour it took us.. It was worth the wait though!
neilg
Hello! seem to have missed this thread somehow!

Yeah, I was planning to go there, but the missus has other plans for that weekend, not sure I am involved in them though (on a course I think) so might still make it. Was hoping to hitch a lift with maaph, but looks like he wimped out with another of his famous excuses!

I'll be coming with all me mates then!
bbulldog
I will go with the flow as for a day biggrin.gif
sitting here at home enjoying the first part of my hols biggrin.gif
This time next week London here i come smile.gif

The aliens would make a visit but it's over 3 and half hours away from us... sad.gif

I should be careful with making such promises .. wait till you meet him first laugh.gif

Why do you think I have such a catalogue of excuses wink.gif

Thanks for the warning, it'll be interesting to meet you too at the Cologne meet-up! Perhaps Neilg will have told us some stories about your good self by then too! tongue.gif

Are you trying to say we're not worth the effort? rolleyes.gif
alien
September 10th is my birthday, so maybe I don't want to do too much driving!!! wink.gif
Bombi
What a great way of spending one's birthday, with us lot and in a British atmosphere! smile.gif
maaph
isn't that wives are for? Fam. Maaph always share the driving - I drive there, she drives back - no problem !!!
Bombi
Witchypoo is the lucky one, she always gets driven home (that's because she can't drive).
Bombi

In our house we have a strange way of doing things, I drive if we meet up with "my" friends and he drives if we meet up with "his" or "his family"! wacko.gif
alien
The main problem is... witchypoo is a whizz on the broom and in the saddle, but she hasn't yet mastered the art of those new-fangled horseless carriages... blink.gif

I'm 900 years old and from the future, she is 900 years old and from the past...but what's 1,800 years between best friends?! cool.gif

You two are so sweet... :$
Neil
Get her one of these ! Alien wink.gif
Bombi
@Neil I think people with EN numberplates, BBers excepting of course could do with that simulator! biggrin.gif
alien
This is all going off-topic...anyone care?

How about these instead...?

Horses that take care of themselves
(note advantage number 5 on the list, oo-er missus!)

or

Formula Broomstick!
Bombi
QUOTE

Nothing new there then! tongue.gif

Going back on topic, alien, perhaps you could persuade your family to spend the day there with you, as you say it is your birthday and if you can't decide what happens on your birthday, I don't know what day you can! tongue.gif
alien
The British Fair looks terribly...British and I bet all the price tags have the decimal point in the wrong place!!! But, not to worry, I like 'window'shopping!

I can't say anything right now, other than, we shall see... unsure.gif
alien
@Neil:

Did you notice the extra 'hidden' bonus features for the city driver in your simulation?

QUOTE
City route with traffic - both head and going the same way

ohmy.gif
Neil
Well that's the Koreans for you

We mostly collect the brochures that are on offer there, we take a bag specially for it too and normally only spend money on food and drink, although I did buy 4 hardbacks for €28 at the British bookshop stand. They were heavy to carry around afterwards! sad.gif

To put the record straight... (my ears are still burning!)
witchypoo knows how to fully dismantle and reassemble a tractor engine and gear-box. She even knows how to drive up, down and across hills pulling a trailer, using the correct differentials and gears (from a choice of perhaps 18).
I wouldn't know where to start!

She just hasn't got the proper piece of paper for those on-road vehicles!!!
...and no, I'm not driving to Krefeld in a borrowed tractor either! blink.gif

Now that would be an interesting sight! biggrin.gif

dont alien's have UFO's that go at light speed?

when is the Cologne meet-up? biggrin.gif
or the ice cream in Essen?
alien
QUOTE

Of course we do...
We tried to leap ahead and have look if the weather and everything would be OK to make a visit. But we couldn't land. When we reached light speed we started getting loud interference patterns from something in the area. I looked at the spectrum analyzer and I could have sworn it was caused by some bloke in a very, very colourful shirt...

ph34r.gif

Yeah, when is the Cologne/Köln meet up?
bbulldog
Funny that alien i have taken off my shirt, too hot...

must be them on the washing line biggrin.gif
Bombi
Looks as if it's decided, we are going on the 10th. I'm writing this now because I'm off on hols next week so you can put it in your "long-term" diaries.

Please contact me if you'd like to meet up with us there.
Bombi smile.gif
WelshRichard
What exactly goes on there? The Website doesn't give much away like! biggrin.gif
Bombi
First of all you walk past various stands where various travel companies have brochures about holidays in GB etc and ferry connections then there are stalls selling British products, there are vintage cars to look at, a falcon display with birds of prey flying around and over the heads of people (and usually narrowly missing them biggrin.gif )

There's wanging the welly where you can throw wellingtons around for a good cause, one year there was a demonstration of sheep dogs and sheep, and there is always a fly fishing demonstration, Highland Games, that's one of the best things to watch and of course fish and chips, be prepared to queue for a good half an hour here at lunch time, but it's worth it. smile.gif

Last year there were also craft works on display and a restaurant serving high tea.

What more could one want. It's a great day out and full of peope. So far we've been lucky with the weather and had sunshine.

For people who want to listen to a Last Night of the Proms Concert, that takes place on the Saturday evening in the grounds of Burg Linn.

Have I convinced you now? wink.gif
WelshRichard
I think you have smile.gif
Bombi
Will we see you there then? smile.gif
bbulldog
me too
WelshRichard
I'm bringing my family across from the darkside, and my parents are coming across for the weekend. So what better way to show them a German weekend biggrin.gif
Bombi
Sounds wonderful, so long as they don't want me to speak Welsh to them, I'm fine. My Welsh is very rusty, had Latin at grammar school and therefore no Welsh, I learnt some working at a nursing home but not that much. smile.gif
WelshRichard
I can't speak a word to be honest, and if they are honest, they cant either biggrin.gif

But after some wine my mother thinks she can, and will tell all the world how she knew Richard Burtons mother. Or was it sister? I've lived apart from them for too long biggrin.gif biggrin.gif
Bombi
Could those of you who want to meet up with us lot (Hagen / Wetter contingent) please get in contact with me so we can arrange a meet-up there.

Bombi
Bombi
Welsh Richard, are you going to meet us here, please let me know and then I can pm you my mobile no! tongue.gif
