Try Vereinigtes Königreich, that's United Kingdom in German

Its not that uncommon to use Vereinigtes Königreich in software. Don't know why, but I've seen it a couple of times.

Great Britain/Großbritannien and United Kingdom/Vereinigtes Königreich often gets mixed up Many Brits don't know the difference.

I know the difference, what interests me though is who thought up the names etc.

There must be some historical reason...

...shouldn't really be a problem if we just read was is written on the cover of our passports i.e.
"The United Kingdom of Great Britain (ie England Scotland and Wales) and Northern Ireland"

Thank god haven’t got that Scotland and Wales on my passport
