Rugby League in Germany

Rugby league Deutschland was set up in August 2004.Since then we have managed to get 2 Clubs going with possibly a third joining soon.Heidelberg Sharks are setup at HTV club.They are looking for any players or anybody who can help them learn the game.Uwe Jansen is the coach but has very little Rugby League Experience.The players (around 20-25 at training) also need help.If you think you can help please contact me at simoncooper@t-online.de

We also have a Rugby League Team based in Munich.They are based in Studentenstadt.They are sponsored by the Arc Pub, Schraudolphstr, Schwabing.The team is a mixture of Germans, Brits, East Europeans, Aussies etc.They are also looking for any experienced League Players or Coaches.Training is Saturdays at 1600hrs and Mondays at 1900hrs.

Karlsruhe Rugby Union club are also wanting to set up a Rugby League club.Again anybody interested can contact either Karlruhe Rugby Club or send me an Email.

Also there is Rugby League played in the Armed Forces in the North of Germany

Rugby League Deutschland 2005 Calender

23rd July Heidelberg Sharks v München-StuSta K.O 1400hrs
30th July Munich Rugby League 9s with teams from Holland, Germany, France and the UK.To be hosted at StuSta Rugby Club, Studentenstadt.

31st July Germany Development v Scotland Students.To be played at StuSta Rugby Club, Studentenstadt.

August 6th Rotterdam 9s with 2 German teams involved with other teams from all over Europe.

August 7th Rotterdam Rugby Club host the Holland v Germany Development game.

After a successful year with Domestic games and a German Development Side playing Scotland U19s in Munich sadly losing 28-13 and then travelling to holland and losing to the Dutch narrowly 34-28 attention now switches to 2006.We will have the Heidelberg Rugby League 9s as well as a Bavarian-Austrian Rugby League 9s Competition featuring at the moment StuSta München Rugby League, Bad Reichenhall, Innsbruck and Linz.We possibly could have a couple of more teams entering.We will have a Germany v Austria played in Bad Reichenhall-which is on the German-Austrian border as well as look to play other International games both in germany and abroad.Our website at www.rugby-league.de will give more details later as we arrange games.Karlsruhe will also likely have a team and will look to play Heidelberg and some French and Dutch teams etc.With Rugby League one of the fastest growing games in Europe why not join in and watch or even play!
