* Wouldn't it be an idea to set-up an FAQ Thread about all these recurring questions?
* Why has the "HTTP:/" link insert started ignoring the [URL=text] and just inserting the link?

Good idea to move the questions here, Mac, although the first one does loose its context a bit...

Just to put all in context:

I've observed that there are a number of recurring question from new and old users, like:

* Passport renewals
* Houses and property
* Registration / de-registration (people and cars)
* Importing / exporting cars
* Schools and schooling
* Dealing with births, marriages, divorces and deaths...

Given that not everybody is aware of how to use the search function, and even then not all posts remain available indefinitely, it would seem to be a convenient to have the topics pinned someplace, as the Britboard instructions are.

I don't think this would reduce any discussion of pro's and con's, perhaps even increase that discussion, as the members would spend less time posting answers to the basic questions..

Yes topics such as the one in question can be pinned to stay at the top of the notice board.

I'll start by pinning the passport topic, and any other questions that constantly pop up can be suggested here.

There's now a pinned FAQ topic in the Life in Germany forum. This will be filled with links to frequent subjects when I have time to go through and find them. There will also be an FAQ link on the top of each page.
