Does anyone know of any good (and preferably cheap) carpenters in Munich, english-speaking or otherwise?

I need one as well. I broke an antique chair from my furnished apt and the landlady said that I could try to get it fixed or fix it myself, but alas, no tools.
karambos
well, I've got quite a few tools if you need them. PM me for something specific. Maybe I can help.

I have a friend that has an ausbildung in carpentry so pm me if you need him.

Theres an older English Guy who's a regular in all the Irish Bars who does this sort of thing. Forgotten his name... hes never done stuff for me but the bar he built in Bondi is still standing which speaks volumes.

He (or at least thats what he told me) built a lot of the Irish bars so just phone Bondi and ask Greg the manager/owner...

Try Alex on 01736971696 he's a young English (and qualified) carpenter with all the right self-employed papers for Germany if you need a proper invoice, and sleight of hand for a few percent if you don't... he lives over Pasing way and has his own van and tools.

I've used him a few times - he's ok...

If you want to do it yourself and haven't got the tools, check out the Home for Do it Yourself --

Haus der Eigenarbeit: (Do it Yourself-House)]http://hei-muenchen.de/

They have rooms that you rent by the hour and trained carpenters, electricians and whatnot, and all kinds of tools. They give lessons too.

More for the search: not Eigeninitiative, Eigenarbeit -- DIY.

They have rooms and tools and space for: hobbies, ecological building materials, restoration (of what i don't know - books? paintings? furniture maybe?), carpentry, ceramics, jewelry, textiles / fabric / clothing /sewing, upholstering / upholstery, metalworking / metal shop, papermaking, sculpting, bike repair. And their website's not in English and it's hard to find online even if you're searching in German so I put it all here for the hell of it. Maybe they'll hire me to fix their site up a bit.

extreme nice one, YorkshireLad6! (and Grinner - you both put me onto the same bloke). Just what the doctor ordered, thanks.

and that's a very good idea, Gen. I will take them up on their offer when I've got a bit more time - I'm a bit of a Bastler myself! Thanks
