Liberation of Dachau: 60 years ago - 29.Apr.1945

It was 60 years ago today that the concentration camp at Dachau was liberated by the US army.

There is also a remembrance march this weeked, starting at 1pm in Gräfeling and ending at 4pm in Gauting. The march is along the Würm where many prisoners were forced to walk in a "death march". More details in the 60th Anniversary Programme.

I've visited the KZ at Dachau a few years ago ...it's a very sobering experience, if I were in the Munich area this weekend I'd go for that.

I am in Munich this weekend. I will not be going. Not that I think it is wrong for others to to remember in this way, its just not the way I like to.
