Choosing a bank

- the next challenge

I've been surfing the net to find a suitable bank in Germany. Not easy, as most of them seems pretty expensive in monthly fees mad.gif. My needs are very simple:

- No fees!!! (or very low - EUR 5 for a service I'm not using does not qualify for being low)
- Visa / mastercard, preferrably for free
- "Good" interest on savings (hard to get anything decent in this low interest world)

I don't care if it's a 100% internet bank since I've been using that for years.

My current favourite is comdirect.de. Does anyone have any experience with them?

SpardaBank is good. You pay a one of membership fee of 52€ and then everything else is free. NO charge for the account, mastercard or EC card. And if you pay things online you collect points which you can exchange for stuff in a catalogue they have. They are always really helpful as well.

Only problem with Postbank is, that you can only withdraw EUR 2000 per month from the savings account. That will sometimes be a bit on the low side.

But else I agree, Postbank does have a good offer if you don't need you own personnal "advisor" (who never knows anything about anything else than selling you as many of their products as possible).
