Hello and welcome to the board!
I don't know if there are other members around that area? I'm over in Nienburg...not so far away from Bremen, about 60km south!
There are a few of us around Hannover, so there should be some chances to meet up.

Hi there!
A quick plug for "The English Club" in Bremen.
It's been around for nearly 20 years, but isn't all that well known. They are presently in the process of moving into new premises, but are open on Wednesdays and Fridays from 20:00. It's quite simply a place to meet and speak English. Nothing fancy, very few rules and regulations and a fun place to be. The new address is Löningstr. 13 (if you leave the train station towards "Am Dobben", the Löningstr. is on your right after a 150m or so.). Why not check out their website
The English Club Bremen e.V. for more information?
See you there!

When I lived in Bremen we consatantly drank at the Irish Pub in the Schnoor called Claire's at the time. Apparently Clare has now gone off to Spain and it has been taken over by Brian from Hegartys? Anyone know if this is true?
I really miss Bremen

I've not been to the Irish pub in the Schnoor for years so I couldn't say who's running it now, but it was always a popular place to go, especially because of Clare. I remember when her brother owned the place before moving to the more lucrative USA, and his original Irish pub in the Markthalle. That was a really nice place and I was so sad when it had to close for lack of business (well, the whole Markthalle closed down). Clare actually did move to Spain (or one of the islands - Fuertaventura??) but someone bumped into Gary (her boyfriend) in Bremen not so long ago, so they still seem to have some contacts in Bremen. I think she still owns a couple of appartments here . . .
I've lived in Frankfurt myself (albeit for only three months, but it was more than enough!! Ghastly place), so I imagine you've been down the Fressgass. The Irish pub down there's not so bad. At least it wasn't - let me think - 6 years ago. There used to be a place in Wiesbaden, but I really couldn't tell you exactly where it was.
I've been in Bremen for nearly 20 years now and must say that the one thing I like about it is it's ability to change and yet stay the same. I've always felt comfortable here and the one big downside is the weather or rather lack of it. Grey, cold and windy, or grey and warmish (with at least a breeze) are the two seasons we have here. Coming from Hull wasn't too big a change, but I think I'll spend old age elsewhere.
But yeah, I would miss it ...

Hi Fanster, welcome to TT. According to the
currently active members list there are a few Bremen people here. Hopefully they'll post up a message for you.

Try organizing a meet-up, maybe in that Irish pub mentioned, PM the folks listed in EBs screengrab to see if they're still living there and interested in a TT-Tuesday. There's bound to be a few folk in nearby towns and cities who'd make the trip in for a bit of a natter in English. I'm going to be up there in a few weeks, maybe get something going tentatively?

Hi There
I am on a mission to get to know people in Bremen / Oldenburg area. After a 6 hour spent on going by train to an English speaking event to Hannover (next time I'll drive) - I am decidedly looking for a good company closer by. Any luck with the event?
