Stupid question for anyone out there with an Xbox...
if I buy an Xbox in Germany is there some way to configure it for English language or is everything driven by the DVD content? So that if I buy games from amazon.co.uk for example, everything on screen is in English?
So same question for games bought in Germany, does this function as per DVDs - i.e. language is selectable with at least English and German available?

Games bought in England will work in English. For games bought in Germany, you'll need to check the packaging to see if it has English - a lot of them don't.

You can configure your Xbox to work in english.
However, many games are sold in "multi" language version, and they will switch to the language your Xbox is set to; unfortunately other games are not (especially if they have a lot of speech etc.) but it's not always easy/possible to determine that only by looking at their package.
But if you buy games at amazon.co.uk you should be safe.

Alternatively, you could ditch the video games and buy a book.

Authors through the ages have offered opinions on this subject...
"I take it to be a principle rule of life, not to be too much addicted to any one thing." - Terence
"Variety's the very spice of life, that gives it all its flavor" - William Cowper
"For variety of mere nothings gives more pleasure than uniformity of something" - Jean Paul Richter
If playing with the Xbox were the only thing in my life then I'd agree with you, however... it isn't. Thanks for your concern anyway.
Thanks to all for your replies.

Only trying to wind you up.
Didn't realise that Terence had an Xbox...
...thought he'd be more a Playstation type.

No offence taken, I'm not THAT sensitive.
I didn't ask about the PS2 because I read lots of reviews (reading you see!!!) that said the Xbox is superior.

What about region code? If I bought an Xbox 360 in Germany is the console already setup for region 2 games (Europe, UK) only? Or can I set this in the Xbox 360 settings that I set when I first setup the box? I remember telling it region and language...

i have a 360, and in your profile you can set where you live, and you can change it latter.
I have mine set to the UK. I havent been there b4, so when it asked for a post code, i had to google one, and set mine to parliament house.
anyway, now all the people i play against are poms, and the voice chat thing is awesome.
