Hello,
Does anyone have an idea about how to go about looking into/buying a puppy? I will go to the Tierheim as that should always be the first point of call, but does anyone know anywhere else to buy a puppy in the Frankfurt area from? We're not 100% sure if we are going to get one yet, we are just researching, but any pointers also regarding average price to pay for spaniels would be helpful. Thanks

Could you be a little more specific about what sort of dog you want? Quite a large variety out there.
It's a dog's life as the world's tallest pooch meets the smallest (click for photo)
QUOTE (Daily Mail)
Despite their radical difference in size, these two dogs have something in common - Gibson the Great Dane and Boo Boo the toy Chihuahua are both world record holders.
Measuring a whopping 107cm, gentle giant Gibson was named tallest dog back in 2004. Joining him in the hall of fame for 2007 is tiny Boo Boo who only measures 10.16cm tall and is smaller than Gibson's head.

Try the local shelters first. Not only are they cheaper than just buying one, you also help the Animal re-homing/adaption effort.

rajeshhuria, did you even check the shelter first, as DK recommended, before posting here again? Because I find it hard to believe that you couldn't find a puppy there or have someone at the shelter point you in the right direction. I don't know what it is with
all the seemingly clueless people looking for animals on TT lately, but quite frankly it worries me.
As the_cat pointed out on the other thread: if you really have that much trouble locating an animal to buy or adopt, I question your ability to care for it properly.

I know a couple of people who got their dogs from an organisation called SanTorini. You can find them here:
http://www.tierschutzverein-santorini.de/hilfe.htmlI have no personal experience with them, I just heard they are very strict with their rules, which is good I guess.

check a local shelter or rescue group.
Dogs vary greatly. what kind do you want?
not everyone should have a lab, others shouldn't have border collies, while others shouldn't have beagles or other breeds.
figure out what you're looking for first and then you'll be able to find it better (rescues, shelters, etc)
