Mincemeat - where to buy in Bonn

has anyone any idea of where to buy mincemeat in bonn ?

don't know Bonn but if there is a Karstadt there, try the food department - they stock it here in Hamburg.

The English shop in Koeln (at the side of the big Kaufhaus) definitely sells it. In Bonn, you might get lucky at the african / indian / you name it food shop on...forgotten the name of the street...
OK from Bertha von Suettner Platz go down the road at the side of McDonalds. It's on the left more or less opposite the church - past the garage and just before the little square. It looks grotty but has quite a lot of familiar products in the back room.
Otherwise the Deli at the back of the Hauptbahnhof is worth checking but I don't think they do mincemeat. There's also a shop in Bad Godesberg that's always advertising in the Bonn English News that it has British products. Could be worth ringing them but again I'm doubtful. Has the Anglican church's Christmas Fair already happened? I got some there one year.

I have never seen mincemeat in Bonn except at the church bazaar which has been and gone. The English shop in Köln have mincemeat but they do sell out of things from time to time so it's worth phoning first 0221 2578555.

The best internet supplier I have found for Christmas and all year round English products is

English food

They post from Germany so postage is cheaper than other expat food suppliers. They are also very quick and although I recieved a leaky bottle of HP sauce it was replaced quickly without hassle.

I would just make it myself that is what I have done the last few years

well, i've tried the indian shop on the breite strasse (near the skyskraper of the city council), no mincemeat.
karstad in bonn have no food dept., and the kaufhof have no mincemeat. neither does the british shop in meckenheim/bad-godesberg. so the next chance is the shop in cologne.

you could make it but then you get the next problem of locating suet :doh: They have mincemeat down here in a couple of places but I guess that doesn't help you much really.

sorry you haven't been able to find mincemeat in Bonn. I live just a short distance outside of Bonn and can let you have some homemade mincemeat (just 1 small jar I'm afraid) if you want it and also have more mince pies than we can possibly eat before Christmas. May also be able to find some more homemade mincemeat for you that may have been left over from the Church Fair. Please send me a PM if you're still interested.
