Other phone companies

I know we have had internet options discussed but I can't remember anything about phone companies, so...

A Friend of mine is really with Deutsche Telekom after they have scre*d up (disconnected) both his phone & internet after signing up for a DSL connection, anyway they apparently cancelled both his old Analog & new DSL accounts & now want hime to pay again for a new account, so he want to tell them where to go.

Does anyone have any recommendations for both phone & internet? Are there other phone companies around??

The alternatives for telephone are very limited - hence DT's attitude towards customers (very similar to BT when they were first privatised). DT still have an effective monopoly because the competition has not grown large enough yet.

The alternative telephone companies are mostly regional - like electricity companies (e.g. HEAG). Arcor have a national presence but tend to concentrate in larger towns and cities.

It all depends where your friend lives.

Thanks for the response, he lives in Garmisch, so I imagine the options are even more limited.

I've had a quick look for alternative telephone companies providing service to Garmisch but I could not find any. There are a few in Munich but Garmisch is probably a bit too far away for them.

DT may be his only option for the time being.
