You're right most Trödelmärkten here are crap mostly mobile covers and poor quality tools and electronic junk

and the remnants of house clearances, they used to better about 10 years ago, but now they are selling everything from clothes to fruit (although the authorities here are cracking down on them as they are not supposed to be selling "new" goods and if they do they have to prove where they have come from) if you want some really interesting stuff (especially furniture) head for Tongeren, it's very good, it's a real antique market, part of it's outdoors and there some large halls too, I've been there several times and there is a lot of quality stuff there, there only thing to bear in mind is you have to go early ...it's all over by 12:30 we used to leave here at about 07:00 to get there for 08:30am and if I remember correctly it's only on Sundays, but 'would be best to check as I'm not sure if it is on all year. Another good market is the Vogelmarket in Antwerp if you are within striking distance, again only Sundays, that's more of a general market and it's big but it does have a lot of antiques too.
