Don't know the name of the street, but it's easy to find - going west from Kaufhof towards Neumarkt it's just down the first street on your left. There's a big sign in the building on the street corner (with a picture of the Queen from memory) pointing the way. Be warned, though - it's a complete rip-off.

I thought the Brit shop in Düsseldorf was quite resonable considering Brit foods in German supermarkets. Is this place more expensive?

Never been to the one in Duesseldorf, so can't say if it's more expensive or not. Exactly which 'Brit foods' are you referring to? Apart from decent sausages, bacon, teabags and curry sauces there's very little you can't get in a good German supermarkt.

The English shop in Köln is next to where M&S used to be (those were the days blah blah blah..). I think the street is An St.Agatha. They are a bit pricey and its best to go late on Thusday or on Friday after they have had a delivery. They sell very expensive cheddar, Walkers crisps and Twiglets, HP sauce, Heinz tomato soup, Bob the Builder pasta shapes, Marmite, Dettol, Farleys rusks, Tampax !!! ... and lots of other things you probably didn't know you wanted until you got there. They do have most of the British daily papers and a good selection of magazines. They also have English videos to rent.
Weetabix is sometimes found in the bigger supermarkets hidden away among the crispbreads. My local Globus has it.

I've only been in there once and I thought it was really expensive. I'm surprised you haven't found Weetabix as it is quite widely available in supermarkets such as HIT.

I just looked in the website of one of these English shops but they don't seem to supply things like mini sausage rolls or samosas. I want to organise a buffet with some typical English finger-food in Cologne - anyone have any ideas what I could serve & where I can get it?

Hi Harry,
In Frankfurt they sell mini samosas and onion bhajis in Minimal. I think they are part of the Rewe group.
You could make sausage rolls yourself quite easily - get some frozen puff pastry sausage meat in the middle roll them up and cut to the right size and then bake in the oven. You could also make chicken satay sticks - yum yum they are really easy just marinate the meet pop on sticks and either grill or cook in a pan. If you are pushed for time on the day you could make them a week in advance and freeze.
Don't forget the cheese and pineapple on sticks!!

The English shop in Köln have a weekly delivery so it may be worth asking them if they could do a special order for you.
There is an oriental food shop in Bonn Plittersdorf that sells big boxes of 60 frozen mini pancake rolls (just heat oil and deep fry until golden brown) at a reasonable price and there must be a similar place somewhere in Köln. Breadsticks and dips are easy to make. Let me know if you would like a recipe for Quiche using german ingredients.

Thanks for replies - I feel a bit less panicky now. A quiche recipe would be great, Rebecca.
