I've just moved to the Sauerland area of Germany, not far from Arnsberg. I was wondering if anybody has any knowledge of cinemas in the region that will be showing Harry Potter in English. Grateful for any suggestions.

I think the nearest you might get is Düsseldorf, there is nothing around here. I have checked Hagen and Bochum. will check out Wuppertal too for you

Thanks Bbulldog, I really do appreciate this information, my two girls are going to be delighted about this.
I have been following this website in England before moving here and I think its very good and often very funny. After watching only German television for around 8 weeks now its good to be able to look at something in English!!!

Hi Steven23
I thought so, but i think Lippstadt is easier if you are coming from Arnsberg.
I am surprised that there are not that many cinemas showing HP in english.

Well Lipstadt is a new cinema to me. I only know three or four cinemas that show english films. Is there anymore near the Düsseldorf area?

My 14 yr old niece has seen the Harry Potter films and read the books. She just came back from the cinema after seeing the latest one. In her words...she said it was 'crap'

But we all have our own opinions about things.

I took my son to see part Harry Potter pt3 yesterday and we enjoyed it. I still think the first one is the best but the kids thought it was great!

I saw Harry Potter oV in Bad Godesburg yesterday. I thought it was brilliant. The films stick closely to the books so if you liked the book you will like the film. So what if they were written for children, it's good to indulge your 'inner child' once in a while.

You don't read a3

you have no idea what the difference is between a good book and an enjoyable film.
To be thrilled by the book usually follows with disappointment when seeing the film, but with the Potter films, the magic from the books is encapsulated and not lost, thus the film loses nothing.
I totally agree and endorse what Rebecca says.
I dident say it was bad :$
Slackmack, I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who's English is suffering after getting on for twenty years resdence in Germany! That could easily have been my sentence structure. (That last sentence wasn't much better!)

2 of my friends have said how they read the book and thought the film had let it down. Just goes to show how different peoples opinions are. I suppose with a book, its all in the imagination. Again what types of imagination people have also differ widely, which in turn can affect the way they enjoy the book. (Not sure this is good English...and I've always lived in England

)

well I went to see it when I was in the UK. Very different and I thought the dementors were brilliant.
The whole thing was very black though, and I don't mean Sirius... Wasn't Ms Rowling suffering from depression when she wrote it? It was different from the others though, but I suppose that was because there was a new director.
Do you think Rupert Grint would like an older woman?
