I guess we'd have to buy tickets for James Brown asap?

Who's interested?
DrivinWest
Wow, I'd love to go see both Air and James Brown. Big C, no Alice Cooper for you? You gotta admit, Poison fucking rocks.

Should I be frightened by the fact that my mother used to date Alice Cooper?

Was this about 9 months before you were born?

Might explain a few things... tongue.gif
DrivinWest
She also went on a date with Chubby Checker and dated Jerry Garcia while on their Ontario tour. Ya know the Penny Lane character from Almost Famous? That's pretty much my mom circa 1969-1972.

*shudder*
Foxy

Tollwood summer festival in general is worth seeing, although I must say last year was not so good, but remember the year before the festival was great, and there was great bands on.

Get some really interesting/weird things on sale there !
Big C
OK, just got my James Brown ticket as well!

Calling James Brown a has been is like calling Elvis a has been (OK, granted Elvis is dead, but anyway) - he is THE man when it comes to that genre and is truly a living legend.
walker1
@Jimbo

depends on ones music taste tongue.gif
Jimbo
True enough - you may not like him, or indeed his music, but surely it's pretty well indisputable that he is one of the most influential acts of the last however many years...
Showem
I agree that James Brown was a very influential musician. But I wonder how much of a show he will put on at the age of 71. This isn't him at his prime. You aren't going to be seeing so much those crazy sexy funky dance moves of his.

I saw Jerry Lee Lewis (who's just a couple of years older than James) about 15 years ago and although I'm happy to say that I saw him, balls of fire he was not.
Jimbo
a fact I readily accept - I'm half expecting a refund if the old boy carks it. I just wanna see a legend - this'll probably be my last chance.
Gen
The Andechser Zelt is really great for live music, and it's freeeeeeee! Complete schedule is at the link above.

Did anyone get James Brown tickets in the end? How much were they? Are there still some left?
Jimbo
I got two - about 40€ a pop I think. Look online for availability...
tench
did anyone get tickets to see Air??
Big C
@tench - no because I couldn't find anyone to go with!
JoolyBooly
I just looked, there are still tickets left, they cost € 37,80.

Who's going now? I'd be up for it...
Big C
@joolybooly - read the whole thread. Lots of us have already got James Brown tickets. I know I have.
What about Air though?
tench
Looks like tickets for air are still available for €21..
I'm gonna get one..

BigC: You in then?
Big C
Yeah why not. You only live once and I've never seen Air before.
karl_haart
Does Tollwood have a gay day/night?
don_riina
Well, the Village People and Jimmy Somerville are playing, so that probably counts as a yes.
