Scotland is fantastic, I love the place. Used to love going up near Auchengillan ( is that how its spelt?) and the Isle of Arran when I was kid camping with the scouts.
Used to visit some mates regulary in Glesgie who were studying up there as well and had some crackin nights out on the tiles. Oh Yesh!! ..wee rides everywhere!
Could,nt live there though ( or anywhere in the UK come to think of it ) because of expensive living, crap weather, bad food, ( deep fried pizza and Mars bars blink.gif ohmy.gif wacko.gif etc etc you all know the usual stuff.
Am thinking of visiting the highlands again though and doing a bit of camping...one thing I always hated though was being attacked by those bloody midgies all day . anyone else had that in Scotland when camping? Drive yer bloody mad those things.
Rebecca
The only way to avoid the midges is to avoid the midge season or find a campsite that has none. To be sure that there are no midges you need to arrive at dusk. I can remember one occasion when we were attacked by midges as soon as we started getting the tent out of the boot and jumped back into the car and drove away, we ended up putting the tent up at midnight in a midge free zone miles from where we wanted to be. Another time we camped on a windy clifftop with two broken tent poles held together with elastoplast, all to avoid yet another midge attack.

Midges aside, Scotland's a great place for a holiday, my favourite bit is the Western Isles.
Rebecca
Well done on surviving a year Sandra. We had a big party after a year because it coincided with my husbands 30th birthday. So I think you should celebrate the anniversary with more than a goose on the doorstep.
sandra
Yes Rebecca! You're right!
We've got a babysitter for saturday night so plan to hit Hannover and have a curry and lots of G&T's!! Maybe check out a blues club |I heard about...pity my 3 year old will be bouncing on the bed at 7am though!! wacko.gif
