Job Hunting

I'm just about to start a big offensive to find a new job back East, as the commuting is killing me mentally and financially. Back East there is a massive shortage of English speakers and my mrs (a German) reckons this is my big chance (but my German isn't very good). I got transfered here, so I have never really searched for a new job.

Any tips on how to approach this? She reckons to write the covering letter in English and not German as it will "stand out".

depends on what sort of job you are going for and wether the firm you are writing to is old fashioned or not.
how about in english and germen ie. 2 cover letters??

it definately needs to stand out as our last job offer a week ago got over 200 people write in for it!!

but dont forget german firms want a specific layout of everything, lebenslauf, zeugniskopien. usw. wink.gif

as i said i would do everything twice E/G

You don't say which part of the East you're in. There are supposedly big things happening these days in "Silicon Saxony". AMD, Porsche, BMW, etc. have all set-up shop in Dresden/Leipzig and they are all planning on moving more jobs to that region, away from their traditional locations.
