yes having a good weekend

i think on the ADAC homepage is information about selling a car over here.
there is also a printout for a 'Kaufvertrag'.
if you sell private make sure you get to see the buyers passport ie. note his details including passport number.
watch out that the car is de-registered otherwise it is still covered by your insurance.

Selling a car was easier than I expected and I got a lot more for it through a private sale.
The ADAC pack is excellent and if you use their model Kaufvertrag make sure it is signed and dated with the time the car is handed over. This should avoid any problems should the buyer have a prang on the way to getting it registered. The ADAC also provide a postcard for you to send to your insurer confirming the sale, again make sure it is signed dated and timed.
I advertised in Annonce and sold the car within a week. I prepared a little folder with all the documents, service history etc. and also had the car checked over so I could include a recent document that the brakes lights and tyres were Ok. This seemed to impress the buyer (very German).

I didn't ask to see the buyers passport, usually a Personalausweiss is sufficient.
Two other important things, firstly it is the sellers resposibility to disclose the full accident history of the vehicle whether or not the buyer asks. Secondly, the Fahrzeugbrief is the document which proves ownership of a car so get the cash before you hand it over.

I did do one very naughty thing though, I cleaned the car on a Sunday!
