The hubby got a quote to cover me for health Insurance (forgot to ask the company) . 200 Euro a month and thats only 30% of the full cost as the army pays the other 70%.

Is this reasonable??? blink.gif

sounds bloody expensive to me, Corinne, although normally the employer covers 50% and the insured 50%. is it private insurance? what kind of insurance does hubster have?
Adi
Is that the cost to insure only you or is that 200 for both of you? Still sounds expensive, but at least for the non-private Krankenversicherungen the cost depends on your income, so if he earns a lot, then it's maybe not too bad. They usually charge around 13-14% of gross income as KV, with your employer paying 50% of that... meaning you pay 6.5-7% of gross for your health insurance in reality.

you are married and he has to pay extra for you ???
he is employed? and you should be covered through his health insurance if you dont work yourself otherwise through your own.

unless he is self employed which going by the army bit doesnt seem to be.
is he in the army??? or working for them?

200 euros is about the amount all KK charge for someone who has to insure himself.

The hubby is a soldier in the German Army..currently in the Euro Corps, stationed in Strasbourg, France .

He gets all of his Health costs covered by the army but they will only pay 70% of mine and 80% of my daughters.

The quote if from Debeka who have quoted 27 Euro for my daughter and 185 Euro for me, per month...that is with the discount already taken into account.

Had anyone else used or been quoted by Debeka?
Rebecca
It may be worth trying others for quotes. I got a good deal when I was self employed from AOK. Who do the other Army families get their insurance with?

To try and make this a little clear...and believe me, trying to do that by getting to understand the German system is not proving easy. But this is how I BELIEVE the process works.

If I was to need medical treatment I would then send the bill to the Insurance company (for which this is all about) and they would check it and pay 30%. The bill is returned and then sent to the arm who pay 70%.

So, if this is really how it works then I need an insurnace that will cover 30% of any medical treatment needed.

The company we have already been quoted by, so my husband says, is one of the cheapest that is being used by other solders. There are not many German companies that provide this kind of cover as we live in France. No way of using a French company because neither of us understand any French.

I checked out a few companies like Bupa on line and the cost of full cover is coming out at about 200 euro as bbulldog rightly pointedout.

So my choices are:
a) use the German company, pay 200 euros and get the 30% paid for.
cool.gif use an Expat company and pay 200 euros for 100% cover (and probably a lot less faffing about)
c) OR find a company that will cover me for 30% that the Army will be happy with and will charge me LESS than 200 euros.

I kinda like the idea of option c) but how to achive it is beyond me blink.gif Everytime I think of spending 200 euro a month on maybe nothing makes me come over is a cold sweat wacko.gif
