Does anyone of you know if this is already fix, that they will do fingerprints and even eye scans for new Passports, and how would this work for Brits in Germany? Do you have to travel to Britain to get it done huh.gif
luke
Don't know about that, but I heard that Germany wants to do away with all kinds of ID and passport. Instead they want implant a chip in the back of everyone's neck attached to their brain.
Steve
You'd probably get all of that done at the consulate in Duesseldorf I guess. Just like when you get a normal British passport when in Germany.

They are doing eye scans now at Frankfurt, it's a voluntary thing & only available to EU (scannable) passsport holders, supposed to be a lot quicker than waiting in line huh.gif

"BRITONS applying for a new passport will need to undergo fingerprint and iris scans within four years under the national ID card scheme announced yesterday. The so-called "biometrics" which may also include a facial recognition scan could also be extended to driving licences in that time, although a decision has not yet been taken, said British Home Secretary David Blunkett.

It is believed issuing of the controversial new cards will begin in 2007-2008.

The new hi-tech ID will be held by an estimated 80% of the British population by 2013, as people renew their documents, before a decision is taken on whether to force the remainder to get a card. "
