That Bloke Off The Radio
I'm trying to help my old Mum in Berlin get BBC and ITV via Sky Digital.

I know Berlin is a pain in the rear because Astra 2D is so weak, but is there anyone in Berlin who has succeeded in getting BBC and if so what dish size and kit are you using?

Please help. It's a long way to take all that equipment over from the UK to find you've got it wrong!
Ninia
A family has recently moved to the Zehlendorf area of Berlin and need someone to install their Sky system. Can anyone suggest a local firm? Thanks in advance.

Hi Ninia,

We just looked in the Telephone book. When I rang them up I asked if they where able to locate sky for me. The guy answered without hesitation Astra 2d that was enough for me. He sent a guy out within the hour. €80 it cost to ALIGN the 80cm dish. I had done everything else myself so please be aware of this.

There are many Satelite engineers in Berlin.

Good luck

Andrew

Do you get BBC and ITV on an 80cm dish in Berlin?
Irish Lassie
You'd really need a 150/160 cm dish

No I don't get BBC.

I do have a Sky subscription in the UK and It works fine.

Family Package I get more than enough UK telly. Ok it cost money but what is better. A guy I know has 2.00 meter dish he lives in Spandau too. He gets everything.

I am not allowed to have a two meter Dish, my Wife won't let me put one up in the garden. sad.gif

Hello,

I know you have probably heard this a million times before but is it possible to get Sky tv in Berlin?

Thanks
Editor Bill
Get in touch with German Sky and see if they can help you.

I asked mikako of 'I was just really very hungry' fame. I am really excited about being able to get the BBC, channel4, for free (minus cost of dish and install).

http://www.astra2d.com/astra2d-footprint.htm

and the astra2d site in general, including the forum, has info on people in bayern area, getting it (there is a quite detailed report). I plan to get a 150-180 cm dish for the top of our building, and have someone put it up. Anyone had experience with Aslan in Kreuzberg? They are near the U1 ubahn station after the spree, just before KotbusserTor.

Hey, if you can't appreciate the joys of two or three college (ice) hockey games every Saturday and Sunday, that's your problem. Also, I managed to watch the Ashes in my living room in 2005 without having to leech off of anyone's sidebands.
s2s2
oh okay. college ice hockey, then yeah, I guess so. i thought you meant gilmore girls or some crap.
'leach off .. sidebands' wha? ru referring to astra2d? this is free programming. hardly leeching.

I must say that I miss even crappy American programing. My only saving grace is the following site- alluc.org - you can stream movies, tv shows (uk ones i've never heard of, too.) In a nutshell, it's fantastic for catching up with old programs and new stuff, too, sans commercials.
