Hi,

now, i need something confirmed. I have just moved here from Vienna Austria which is understandable for the large expat community because of the UNITED NATIONS and other organisations.

But in Munich theres not really anything here that big so what do all the Aussies do here?

Do you guys work in bars, clubs, pubs maybe some other industry... I work in TV and think im the only aussie here at the BAVARIA FILM PLACE.

please do tell...

Hazza
What the hell? So you're saying that since September 2002, the Ausssie population has increased from 285 to 5000???

Munich population statistics by nationality

Do you have a source for this, or have you just pulled this figure out of your arse??

There are 5,117 Americans, 583 Australians, and 94 New Zealanders

Isn't that technically an invasion. Someone ring the Kofi for fcuks sake!!!

Well I don´t even think I´m registred with anyone ph34r.gif ... I´m your local TT Aussie Au Pair. That sounds quite professional doesn´t it?? Ha ha! Well, in real life I´m a speech therapist, I´m just playing the nanny role for now. Have you found the Aussie link yet Robbie?? Its in the national groups thread.. it says come out come out wherever you are...
robbieinmunich
Shitttt!!!

Sorry I meant 500. its meant to actually be 583 to be exact...

why are there always more americans than aussies??!!!??
And I have nothing against the USA... ( part of the fam lives there)
however
Kza
Probably because its a much bigger country.
But dont feel bad, the scarcer something is, the more valued it is!

well for what its worth i work as a process engineer for Linde.. (pauses to take in the baffled looks :-) ) there is also a second aussie who works with me.

i read that figure (583) and am quite amazed also. Having lived here for 2.5 years now. i can honestly say i only know maybe 10 australians who live here on a permanent basis ( ie multiple years)

Maybe i should know more, but then again i only found this Toytown website this year.

harr harr harrrr

Oh ihave to express my ignorance - I went tothis birthday bash over the weekend and there were loads of TV people there and i was talking to this guy who is a special affects director. Anyway he said he lived in NewZealnd for quite some time and yet again i was like what on earth for? He said he worked for Peter Jackson

(If your a REAL aussie you will get this)

And i bluntly repplied "oh the ciggarete Company"

he turned and softly said "Errm no the director of Lord of the Rings"

is that dum people??
am i a dip shit or wot?! sad.gif

I probably know more than 50 Aussies here in Munich (including many I've only met once or twice). That's about 10%. I reckon that's not a bad percentage.

Not too many of them hang out here and I bet there's a fair few who are married and have kids and do the family stuff. They don't all have to hang around Toytown boards.

It's no wonder you don't see them much - 583 out of a total of over 1 million is a very small percentage...
chicken^tonight
There might be more Aussies who are registered under a different passport. Dual citizenship stuff? I'm a bit vague on this but someone mentioned it.
Hazza
Yeah, I mentioned it.

Obviously it's easier to register under an EU passport than an Australian one, so there are probably more than 583 Aussies here.

However, even if it was 5000, then out of a population of 1.3 million, it still only adds up to around 0.4% - hardly an invasion.
Torsten
He he, I'm one of the sneaky buggers, though I thank my lucky stars that I've got an EU and Aussie P/P.
acrossthenight
Over 500? Why do I never meet any? :/ I probably hang out at all the wrong places. wink.gif
Editor Bob
Try the Aussie / Kiwi Stammtisch.

Although, having said that, the organisation seems to be stumbling at the moment.
Hazza
You'll see a few Aussies at the Aussie Rules tomorrow
