Hello People!
We are planning a trip in the spring/early summer down to Gunzburg ( between Stuttgart and Munich)to Legoland DE with the rugrats. To get our own back on the germans who clog up the scottish roads in the summer, we plan to hire a campervan!. Anyone have any suggestions where enroute from Celle to the south we could stop for a night? avoiding big cities if possible?

Cheers! Sandra biggrin.gif

When are you leaving? After work in the early evening or or during the morning.

Why are you planning to overnight? You can be there in 7 hours cool.gif

Admittedly the BAB7 will begin to annoy you after a bit, but when planning refuelling stops, look for signs on the Autobahn that are white and have a pic of a truck on them and the word "Autohof" just before an ausfahrt. These are modern truckstops, but please do not confuse them with the rip off greasy spoons you get in the UK. The fuel will be cheaper than the pumps on the autobahn, the food will be better and all have male and female showers.

Are you aware of being gassed in your sleep?
Sleeping gas is pumped into caravans/motor homes/truck cabs then the criminals break in and steal your valuables ohmy.gif . Gas alarms are available to detect these gasses, I don’t want to alarm you but I can’t not warn you of what is sweeping Europe, try and park in a busy area and not autobahn parking places.

ohmy.gif Blimey Slackmack! That's scary!
We plan to overnight really cos our kids are young 3 and 6 and would get bored! so we thought we'd just take our time and see a bit of Germany too! We'll probably look for a campsite to park up in, in the hope we'd make it through the night!! I just wondered of anyone knows of a nice town/village/campsite where we could spend the afternoon/evening half way to Munich. We'll be on holiday and in no particular hurry! cool.gif

Thanks for your advice! Sandra wink.gif

If your going via München, about half way down Germany is Geiselwind.

Geiselwind is about the 3rd or 4th exit on the BAB3 after Biebelrieder Kreutz direction Nürnburg (the main junction where the 3 crosses the 7 close to Würzburg).

There is a Freizeitpark/fun park at Geiselwind its sign-posted from the autobahn, there is a large truckstop (Toni's) there which is probably the busiest in Germany, so refueling is no probs and i can recommend the food from the restaurant, McDonalds and Burger King also feature here if you would prefer it for the kiddies.

A large Mercedes workshop also features on site should you need assistance with your vehicle.

Check out the park here, there is bound to be facilities to camp.
