Wegen einer Bombenentschärfung (due to bomb disposal?) the S-Bahns will be stopped today between Hackerbrücke and Donnersbergerbrücke from 1.30pm till 3pm.
TCH
This could be the destruction of the old chimney/tower that is near the tracks. So not really bomb disposal, but explosives.
BadDoggie
No, it's bomb dsposal.

woof.

UrbanAngel
Pls delete - it posted twice for some reason! Thanks.

More info just found on the SBahn site:

Stationen:

S 1 in Moosach
S 2 Nord in Laim
S 2 Ost am Ostbahnhof
S 4 West in Pasing
S 4 Ost am Ostbahnhof
S 5 West in Laim

A police van just came past outside and said on loudspeaker that everyone in this area must close all windows before 2pm as at 2pm the bomb will be disposed of.
BadDoggie
I dont get it. Since the pressure wave is what breaks the glass, I'd expect open windows to be less likely to break as the wave can pass beyond them and any differential between interior and exterior pressure is removed.

We had that same announcement on Ridlerstr.

More news: the roads will be blocked too, as well as the interruption of tram services. This is from an internal work e-mail we just got:

(summarised in EN)

As of 2pm, all traffic and pedestrians/cyclists will not be able to go between Martin-Greif-Strasse and Barthstrasse as they are blocked due to the bomb disposal. The S-Bahns and trams will also be stopped.

It is expected that the roads will be unblocked as of 3.30pm.

I do like the topic title. UA is calling for us all to go and bomb Donnersbergerbrücke.
UrbanAngel
Well it is rather ugly!
Crawlie
Yeah but it is a bit excessive though. Maybe a lick of paint or some flowers. But bombing it?
UrbanAngel
CORRECTION: My colleague got it wrong- please OPEN all windows!!
UrbanAngel
I just got an e-mail saying that the bomb was disposed of successfully and that all public transportation is running again, and all roads have been re-opened. The S-Bahn site isn't working for me right now for a confirmation though.
Topsy
am I the only person who likes Donnersbergerbrücke?
I find it quite "edgy" and "vibrant" round the bridge, really.
It's a modern, concrete structure that reminds us that were living in a city, not in the middle of chuffing nowhere.
It's cool.
