There is a
group of TT guys who go down to Thalkirchen regularly. Search climbing and you'll find the thread.I haven't been with these guys yet, but have been down to
Thalkirchen Climbing Centre with other friends quite a few times and it is suberb. A great range from trivial to those that i am convinced you require extra limbs and the subtlety of a snake to be able to do. They have a lot of outside routes as well, which are great now that Summer has arrived. If you plan on climbing there a lot it makes sense to join the DAV (German Alpine Assoc) and buy a yearly card. This really brings the cost down. Otherwise it is about €12 a time.
There are some nice outdoor routes down at Kochlsee past the Hydro-Elec Powerstation. Not to far away, but I am not sure about using public Transport to get there. I think you need a car really. There is supposed to be some bouldering a bikes ride away South down the side of the
Isar, but I have yet to find it.
I will be dusting off the harness again this year and heading out with a very mixed group (English, American, Irish, beginners to reasonabley experienced. Everyone else welcome. Shoes and Harness pretty much required (go buy from
Karstadt Sport at Theriesenwiese.-they are closing down and have a good sale on). Ropes, clips we have already.
