Bavarian Beer Day - Free Beer! 23rd April 2004

Have you heard that today is the holiday of Bavaria, the day of beer?
Apparently there is free beer at the Bierbrunnen.

Not only that, but it seems Beer Day marks the beginning of Beer Week! This must be a satire surely? As if beer is some kind of neglected thing that needs promoting in this part of the world. What a ridiculous place!

well, the golden juice needs to be celebrated doesn't it???
We should support that. I guess most of us will be doing that tomorrow in Andechs to pay the respect to the "basic food".
They are mainly celebrating the day when the "Bavarian Purity law" was iniatlized in 1516 by Herzog Wilhelm IV. It is the first and therefore oldest food law ever (at least AFAIK) Up til now it is still the law that only 4 basic ingredients are allowed to be used and that would be: Water, yeast, hops and malt.
(Thats why it is seen as basic food as these are the same ingredients bread has)

Most interesting seems to me the"Maibock-Anstich" in Hofbräuhaus next Friday April 30th. So for those who were sad that Starkbier season is over... there you go.
