You should be able to get it from the normal kinderartz that you have for the child...
(with the health insurance card...You have to inform them ahead maybe...)

Yeah, at the doctor's. Most any GP can do it for you. I don't know how old your child is, but if they are getting it again, they are likely old enough to go to a GP rather than a pediatrician.
Oh, and it won't be covered with public health insurance, just so you know.

Or go to the TropinInstitute on
Leopoldstr. they do all the shots there for travelers.

Ummm...why in the world wouldn't it be covered? Isn't that exactly the kind of cost-effective thing that the public health insurance should cover to prevent expensive medical bills later on?

Vaccines like that are NOT covered by any insurance even the private- the attitude is- if you can afford to travel to places that you need these shots, then you can afford to pay for it... rightfully so! IMO

Hepatitis is not considered to be a necessary vaccination for anyone living in central Europe. If you need it, as Carm said, it's because you can afford to travel somewhere where it's more prevalent, therefore you can afford to pay for it.

Hepatitis A vaccination is a travel vaccine but Hepatitis B is now a routine vaccine throughout Europe. I was recently talking with a local drug prevention officer who said this vaccine is now encouraged for children in Germany. Your paediatrician will be able to give it to you and there should not be a charge. The combined Hep A&B vaccine called TWINRIX®, is also available but it is possible (although I am not sure about this) you may incur a small fee as Hep A is not routinely vaccinated against.

Did he/she tell you why?

The reason is that Hepatitis B is more infectious and virulent than the HIV virus. Increasingly more young people are at risk through unprotected sex and drug abuse. Therefore, vaccinating the young will help to curb this worrying trend - in Europe at least.

What he said, yeah. Don't forget about C either.

Sadly there is not a vaccine available for all the other Hepatitis's - I think they are way past C now

A and B are available and one for C I had thought was close to being marketed, but I haven't kept up with it lately. I believe that HepB is now part of the baby checkups.
It goes to Hep G now.

hepatitis B is pretty hard to get.
vaccination is not as good as taking care of what you do with other people's blood and fluids and staying in good health in general.
also, vaccination messes up all kinds of other processes in the body, the safety of which has not been clinically studied, especially for kids and infants.
find out 1) where the vaccince comes from and 2) what is in it - what preservatives - before you do this.
mercury, aluminum, formaldehyde, not to mention live virus made from animal parts and injected into humans, all can raise hell.
though it is difficult to prove, there is some evidence HIV itself was a result of contaminiation of hep. and polio vaccines. these are still grown in labs from animal parts...not something to mess with.
just make sure your kid is healthy happy, eats and sleeps well, and doesn't exchange fluids with lots of people. this is more important than injecting known carcinogens into the body.

Hey. Does anyone know what are the standard childhood vaccinations in Germany? Can anyone recommend a link where I can look at them?
Thanks,
Diana
