Turns out that every year in living memory (ok, the website only mentions this event as far back as 2005 ) the Bayerische Brauerbund e.V or Bavarian Brewers Federation has sponsored a Bierbrunnen on Munich's "north side". No, not Hasenbergl or Milbertshofen, just the Oskar-von-Miller-Ring, just on the northern edge of the Altstadt in the Haus des Bayerischen Bieres -- House of Bavarian Beer. Free beer, apparently for two days, the 23 and 24. I don't know if they will actually replumb a fountain to have beer pour out of it, but I'm willing to go test it. The pictures from last year don't show an actual fountain, so the Bierbrunnen may be more of a metaphor for the free beer. Last year's schedule of the Bavarian Beer Week shows lots of things going on -- I don't know if they're not planning that much this year or if they just haven't updated the website. But they do have digital greeting cards.
Oh and it's available in English too.

Oh yeah and it's also World Book Day, date chosen because Shakespeare and Cervantes both died on April 23.
